Howdy all,

I recently went back to weight watchers after losing 40 pounds 11 years ago and gaining it back plus more - why not?

The reason I went back to WW is that after one year as a raw food vegan, I didn't lose ANY weight and after 14 months of low carb high fat didn't help me to lose weight either. I've only gained when I jumped off the wagon on October 9th. The only program that has ever worked for me is WW.

I am doing it differently though. I am using my points to eat whole foods. Nothing diet or fat-free will go past these lips. I have 29 daily points and will be using them towards regular foods like butter, cream in my coffee, whole eggs, etc... I'm just going to stay grain free and sugar free like I have been for the last 14 months.

I am at my heaviest weight now of 193.6 lbs. My BMI is 27.8. I am 5'10" tall. My chest is 44", my waist is 40.5" and my hips are 41". To say that I look 8 months pregnant would be an understatement. I would like to be 149 lbs by my 50th birthday next September.

Interestingly, I have 8 points left to eat today and this is after having had 2 coffees with cream, all of my daily food and my splurge today was a Tim Horton's peanut butter cookie.

I will be weighing in only once a month, but taking my measurements weekly and attending the weekly meetings.

Looking forward to posting updates and progress.

Welcome!!
Good luck on your journey. It seems to work for so many, so I am sure you'll do amazing!
I agree about whole foods - as long as you eat what is good for your body, you'll do awesome.

I lost 45-50lbs with WW a few years ago too and put it all back on--I found I wasn't able to follow it without going to meetings every week--Are you going to meetings? good luck!!

Welcome Lisege! Planning on whole foods sounds like a fantastic idea. You'll need a lot less of that to feel satisfied for sure. It's also great to focus on measurements, it's such a good indicator of how you're doing. Best of luck on this journey!!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

One week done, I took three measurements during the week and then took the average and overall I have lost about an inch.
I plan on going to the meetings weekly until I get to goal, and as a lifetime member I only have to weight myself once a month, so that will save me about $40 a month in fees, I can use that towards eating good food.

I can tell that the WW leader doesn't like what I say about eating whole foods and actually eating some fat. Last Saturday she was really pushing the WW "snack" food, 2 for 1 deal. I called it junk food and she didn't like that.
But that's ok, I'm there for me not her.

Last time I went to WW, I did lose a lot of weight, but there was a lot of eating of that prepared processed food and cheating that I didn't really learn how to eat healthy and fell into old patterns once I hit goal. This time, I will not deny myself quality food just to fill up on 2-3 point junk meals/snack and feel deprived all the time.

Feeling good overall.

Well done on shedding an inch in a week - that's amazing work!
I am glad you stood up and asked about eating whole foods - that's a very good question to bring up. Do they teach you about making good choices?

Good luck on your journey :)

WW still emphasizes eating fat free and low fat foodstuff more than anything else. What most people don't get is that when fat is removed from a food, other fillers need to be added to make it taste good, and that is usually sugar and chemicals.
I was looking at fat-free cream, the ingredients listed had things in it that I couldn't pronounce and took up half the carton. The body doesn't know what to do with chemicals. I'll stick to my one ingredient 100% organic cream thank you very much, and butter from pastured grass eating cows, wild caught salmon, organic eggs and tonnes of veggies.

This time around, I'm not trying to figure out how to cheat with filler foods while feeling deprived. I don't feel deprived at all.
