Liquid Diet

Ok for the past few weeks i've got back into the gym, workin out every other day, with a push/pull split. The thing i'm wondering is prety much every day i wake up at around 9:30, have a weight gainer shake with milk, giving me about 600 calories. Then i go to work, i work at Ono Hawaiian BBQ, if any of you know what that is, and i drink apple juice there and eat usually beef, chicken, and steamed rice. (Sometimes i bring a bag of peanuts or a protein bar if i have em) Then, i go home around 3, have another weight gainer shake for another 600 calories. Then i go to the gym right after i'm done witht he shake, and i drive about 45 minutes to the gym, work out for an hour, then come home and have another shake. Then i usually hang out with my friends for a few hours, then i have another shake. Then i go home around 12 or so, and have 2 glasses of milk before i go to sleep. I was just wondering, is it bad that i'm pretty much having almost no solid foods throughout the day? I heard a liquid diet isn't good for you, but i can't really find a way to get enough calories in without the 4 weight gainer shakes. Any input?

that much liquid means your fiber intake must be low, especially with your typical diet that you've listed.
my guess is either you have frequent "I have to get to the bathroom now before my ass explodes" issues, or that it's not a 'quick trip' and you're getting constipated (or a mix of the two)

Drop at least one weight gainer, and make it up with cottage cheese and a 1 cup of oatmeal, cooked.

also, consider eating 7 meals, once every 2 hours, for fewer cals per meal.

trust me, I tried 3 MRP's a day, even with a bowl of oatmeal in the morning, and I quickly ended up with mud butt and lots of stomach discomfort. as soon as I switched 2 shakes back to real food, my problems cleared up in about 36 hours.

in my opinion I say just do whatever your schedule allows you to do. if you have time to eat a solild meal then do so if not weightgainer it up. Im not a big fan of all of the sugar intake but everybody has there way of doing it. I personally consume almost nothing but liquids from about 6:30-2:30 and then I come home and do the boneless skinless chicken and maybe a bagal or oatmeal

Only problem is i can't really find a lot of food that's good for me and good on the go, cuz i'm not at home much. You're right though my stomach has been hurting a little for a while.

biggie, look into pre-cooking your meals, and storing them in Gladware or the Ziploc containers. those cheap ass tupperware wannabe's really hold up to a lot of wear and tear in the freezer, microwave and dishwasher....but are so cheap that if you break or lose one, you're only out like 50 cents.

If you can, nuke em in the microwave prior to eating...otherwise, figure out what you like to eat cold and go with it.

if you dont mind eating some of the same foods alot it is easy to pre-cook good foods. on one of your days off, cook 8+ chicken breasts on a grill, and just put them into a plastic container. then make a bunch rice or potatoes and store that in plastic containers also. last find some veggies that you like and put them in the frig. when you are hungry, say before or after workout, just pop a chicken breast and rice in the microwave, add a veggie and a fat free dressing of your choice for flavor and your set.

shakes are ok if you cant get a real meal, but they should not become your daily diet.
