Ladies and Gent's a like Lift MORE weights...and less cardio. 20-30 min of cardio or HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and weight's 45 min 3 x a week.

8 weeks after having my son I started to lift weights and went on a 1,300 calorie diet and lost 1 pound per week, now as ive increased my weight every week my metabolism is so fast that I can lose 1 1/2 a week on a 1,800 calorie diet. You need to lift more and heavy. Build that muscle, eat from clean food sources, and you will have a higher metabolism.

The 45 pounds I gained was gone at 5 month's pp. Thank God for weights!! and Protein!!!

I gained 55 pounds with my daughter, and lost all of it plus 10 more by the time she was 5 months old. Pregnancy weight comes off like that. :)

Although if we're offering blanket advice, I heartily endorse having your gallbladder removed. Because that's the only thing I really did different after giving birth.

Ever84, not all things work for all people. More muscle does burn fat, but I think a balance is necessary. Cardio is needed to lose fat too. You don't have to get crazy, but what works for me is cardio every other day and weights every other day.

Also not everyone should lift heavy weights, it depends on what you are going for. Heavy weights is for mass isn't it? Steve? Lighter weights more reps are for strength? Something Like that.

Not really directed at you Busy, but ya hear people say this line all the time. More muscle burns more fat.

Unless you are in a hypocaloric atmosphere, this is not the case.

Not exactly. There are a bunch of things that go into muscle growth. Just lifting heavy isn't going to cause growth. A number of criteria must be met.

But you're right..... there's a time and a place for pretty much any and every protocol and that's why blanket advice like this is silly.

So it isn't so? then why do people say that? Oh nevermind. LOL!

Muscle is more metabolically costly than fat. So you could say that. But to say it burns more fat completely ignores thermodynamics.

If you're building muscle, but also eating too many calories..... you'll be adding fat. Not burning it.

Blah, i started gaining weight after i had mine removed. I think it was because it was no longer painful to eat and I had it taken the old fashion way so i couldnt work for a month.

Oh, yeah - allergic baby (so no wheat or dairy) and gallstones (so no fat or spicy food) was an amazing diet. But I only had about 6 weeks of overlap. It took me a long time to get the nerve to transition back to higher-fat food, though.
