Hi everyone, firstly many thanks for viewing my thread. I browsed a number of forums before deciding to make my thread here. I love how the community encourages these 'goal' threads and supports each other on their own personal challenges. So thanks for stopping by...
A brief overview of who I am. I am an average 21 year old guy. I moved from the UK at the age of 14 to New Zealand where I finished high school; and 1 year ago I moved to the Gold Coast in Australia with friends to work/live. For the best part of 8 years I was a very competitive swimmer (UK) and was in great shape. When I moved to NZ I found new interests and stupidly stopped swimming - which is now the biggest regret I have in my life to date.
From the age of 15 to now I have been basically getting bigger and doing very little exercise. I am now 94kgs (207lbs) and really wanting to start losing some weight and get back into better shape.
Q&A
-- How much weight do you want to lose?
I don't have any specific numbers in mind, I just want to be healthy and lose the excess fat. I'd be happy losing 10kg and getting a lot more muscle instead of fat.
-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
As long as it takes, but I will be putting 100% effort into this. I've already changed my eating habits and began exercising. So I'm hoping the goal isn't too drawn out.
-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
^ I have changed my eating habits. I used to eat a lot of take away food and even when I cooked at home I would cook a lot of red meat and greasy food. I have started eating a lot more fruit and vegetables, chicken and tuna.
-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
Really I am doing this for myself. My family live in NZ, but the majority of my friends here are in good shape - I can bounce ideas off them and one of my friends has started letting me come to the gym with him twice a week. I chose this forum though, because the support looks so great.
-- How realistic is your goal?
To me, very realistic. As I said before I used to be in brilliant shape when I was swimming. I feel the goal I have set isn't unrealistic at all. 10kgs should be perfectly doable provided I stick at it.
-- When will you start?
Now.
THANKYOU for reading. Also, as far as cooking is concerned I am pathetic. So any healthy/easy Seafood or Chicken meals people swear by - please share it would be much appreciated. I will respond to every post here, and will make an effort to post in your guys threads as well.
I will also post a photo update once a week.
Here's the first pic as of now:
