Let's Re-Write Everything

I am trying to revamp my whole diet and workout routine, because I was sitting here thinking..

"Weight Watchers has always told me to eat 18 points a day
And I calculated that out to be 900 calories a day
I don't find that that is enough calories
No wonder I find myself binging"

I went to Weight Watchers two summers ago, I realize that now they have upped the points, but I want to count calories.. or just try something new and different altogether

What would be a good, healthy caloric intake amount where I can still lose weight at a good decent level?

I am 5'4, 132 pounds and I work out 4 nights a week to a moderate aerobics tape (Tony Little Target Traning: Hips, Buttocks and Thighs), and also work on my abs doing a light assortment of different crunches. My goal is to be 120 pounds.

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

ps. I stopped going to Weight Watchers, I couldn't handle the pressure of weighing in each week, it triggered binging and I just don't agree with their philosophy

How old are you? I need to know an age to make a accurate estimate (oxymoron hehe). BUT, plugging in 25 years of age (I can adjust this) to maintain your current weight, with a moderate activity rating, you need 2085 calories a day. Shaving 500 calories off of this a day will lead to a pound of fat loss a week. Your ideal weight (using 25 as an age) is 121.

Consume 1585 calories a week (approximately), keep up the aerobics tape. How long is the tape though? Most experts say you should maintain at least 30 minutes but no longer than an hour of cardiovascular exercise.

Also consider adding strength training to your workout regimine. Work with high reps and low weight. That builds muscle endurance and boosts your metabolism for days afterward. If your interested, I can throw you together a beginner program.

I definitely agree. Also, if you decide to add strength training, you may want to eat around 1800 calories; 1500 seems rather low. The average female needs at least 1600 for the body to function properly.
Anyways, I think the best thing would be to add strenth training/weight lifting. The more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn.

Is that you in your avatar, btw? You're so pretty!

1500 calories was at moderate activity, adding weight training would up her activity level, 1600-1800 is very reasonable then

I agree

You should be taking in about 1800-2000 calories per day. Try to docardio at night for 35 minutes.....on the olliptical machine, this could burn 550 calories, which would put you down to about 1500 perday.......give it a shot

I am 20 years old. The tape isn't very long at all, in fact, I should toss it altogether and find something new to replace it with. And I would be very interested in a beginner program.

I don't have the funds or access to a gym.. so a tape or something pretty cheap would be best for me :p

remember, all cardio does is raise your heart rate to a target number. Walking fast enough to get your heart rate up works too, and its cheap :D

Sorry about that. Have you ever tried piliates,or yoga tapes? Its really good for builing lean muscle and in turn, burns fat. I also have to agree with spockafina...you are very pretty:)

teehee, thanks

I have this tape..
But I've only ever used it once, since I just bought it two days ago. I tried it, and it felt pretty slow, like there were moments where I felt like I was doing something a little tough.. but I would definitely need something extra to supplement this tape if I was to use this as the basis of my workout routine..

How long of fast walking? I am a complete dummy and need help with eeeverything :p

Avens is right....anything that gets your heartrate up will brun calories/fat. it typically takes 20 minutes of cardio to START burning fat...not calories.....they will begin to burn right away:)

hehe I keep leaving stuff out, can ya tell I'm at work posting too fast hehe :D

5-6 times a week is recommended, I normally shoot for 40-60 minutes 5 times a week with my current schedule.

Sounds like something I am very capable of doing and adding to my day.. I shall try that.
