Hi everyone. This is new to me so sorry if I write too much/little.

I'm a 20 year old university student. I'm 5'7.5" (I never know whether to say 5'7" or 5'8"..) and weighed 138 lbs when I decided I wanted to shed a couple pounds about 2 weeks ago. I'm aiming for a pound a week, and my target weight is 132 lbs (I'm now at 136). I already eat really healthy and drink pretty much only water and green tea. My only problem is that I live with my family and they tend to buy junk foods sometimes and I lose my willpower and end up eating them, which is fine, but I eat them more often than I'd like sometimes (especially if I get home around 8 p.m. or later, I seem to overeat a lot at that time!

Within about a year or 2 in high school I put on about 10 lbs and have held pretty steady at that since, I don't think I was growing height-wise at that point though! I realize my weight isn't unhealthy, its a BMI of maybe 20 or so (not that BMI is the best indicator, especially for athletes).

My goal is really to get a lower body fat % (if I'm building muscle the weight loss may not come but I figure I'll at least look leaner :D), I'm pretty active (I exercise minimum 5 days a week for at least an hour of cardio usually - biking, running, swimming, rowing, etc). I've also started doing weights a bit more now that I find that area of my gym to be less intimidating :p My motivation for exercising really has nothing to do with weight loss though (its fun, amazing stress relief during school, and just gives me so much more energy, and I'm all about leading a healthy lifestyle). I'm wayy more active than this in the summer cause I absolutely love being outside.

I think I'll use this diary to try to motivate myself to eat less junk food, maybe if I'm writing it down for others to see I'll be able to better motivate myself to reach for the veggies or yogurt instead of the cookies.

Any tips you have that have helped you succeed with avoiding the junk food are also welcomed :)

Update

Thanks Sunflower :)
I've already been bad with eating healthy, I need to start putting more effort into this. I did alright today except for about a 1/2 cup of ice cream and peanut butter (on its own, its become a weakness). I think I'm at 137 lbs, I haven't exercised since Sunday morning, I have my NLS (lifeguarding) exams this week so I didn't want to overdo it at the gym and not be able to carry my victims :S. Plus I think running on Saturday irritated my achilles tendon, it hurts to walk in shoes since the back of my heel rubs against my shoe :( I did walk on Monday night, but I'm used to exercising at a higher intensity so tend to not count my walks as exercise so much as leisure activity. Anyways, I figure I should avoid exercising until my achilles is better, but until then I need to work on eating less.
One thing I've realized is that I don't really adjust my food intake according to whether or not I exercise, so its bad on the days that I am less active cause I take in too many calories :( Something to work towards I guess!
That's all for now, gotta go study, whoo! :/ lol

Maybe start keeping a food diary? It makes you think more about everything you go to put in your mouth because you have to write it down.

Even on days you eat like crap it's still good to see how much you ate, what your mood was like, etc so you can figure out your triggers.
