My name is Bryon and I am a 420r.

I weigh over 420lbs but don't want to anymore so I decided to motivate myself by starting a website and post my efforts on the intrawebs for everyone to see. Shameless plug... it's http://www.ima420r.com

I am a single father, my daughter is 11 years old, and I am afraid at the rate I am going I won't be able to see her graduate. Someone needs to be around to keep those trouble making teenage boys away too, and if it's not me it sure won't be her mom!

So, I am using my love of video games and trying out various ways to exercise using my Xbox 360 and Kinect. Once I get down a few pounds, and the winter is over, I will start doing more of what I used to love doing: hiking, swimming, walking and biking. Of course I am also eating healthier, and less.

I am new to the weight loss world online but I hope to find some good tips and suggestions as I scour the intrawebs for new ideas and better ways to get in shape.

edit: What better way to say "Hello!" than having a typo in the title of my very first post! Yeah!

Hi there!

Congrats on making the decision to do this! We have all made that choice and are here to lend support, motivation, and help! It is great that you have started a blog! I use the diaries on here to help me...when I was starting out (and the most successful), I was posting in it every day!

Have you thought about using your blog or one of these diaries to keep track of your food and exercise? I find the best way to stay on track and keep me accountable for my choices is to record when, what and how much I eat (doing up the calories is always a great eye opener), and keeping a log of my exercise....this is a great way to see what calories are going in, and what calories you are expending. Over my time here I have found that by doing that, the members of this community actually comment on my choices and offer healthy alternatives or suggestions regarding exercises.

It sounds like you have a great plan! I love the idea of using games to get you motivated and active! That's fantastic! You also seem like you have a great motivation for doing this- your daughter! I am sure she is very proud of you!

Keep it up, and we are always here if you have any questions, need motivation, or a hug! :)

AThanks for the warm welcome!

One thing I do want to add to my webpage is a calorie or food tracker. I have a phone apparently that does it but haven't yet found something to put online. I suppose I could just do it by hand daily but I was looking for something more automated.

And my daughter is a very good motivator. I think of the things I've missed doing with her already and I don't want to miss anymore. Plus, I don't want her to grow up to be overweight too so by helping me I'm also helping her.

CONGRATS on taking the first step!!! I wish you the BEST of luck! It truly becomes a whole new way of life! Taking small steps really adds up fast!! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR journey and i cant wait to hear about your progress! Good for you, and your daughter will be so proud of you!

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders about this!

Remember that this community is always here for you!! :)
