Let me introduce myself

I've decided 2007 is going to be my year, and so have embarked on my journey to lose some weight. The pounds have been creeping on since the middle of high school until I found myself at 150lbs (which, at 24 and only 5' tall, is not a good place to be). I've maintained that weight for the past year or 2, so at least I seem to have stopped gaining. What really shocked me was seeing myself in the background of a picture. I decided it was definitely time to do something about it.

Part of my problem was refusing to admit there was a problem. I've been told I was heavy by my parents since high school, when I was about 125lbs, so I'd just sortof filtered it out, since at the time, I would think most people wouldn't necessarily have agreed with them. And I'm active...sortof. I dance 3 or 4 times a week for at least 2 hours each time. Unfortunately, I think I'd use that as justification for a cookie or an extra helping here and there, or a late night milkshake. I know when I'd go away for a dance weekend, I'd pig out (but I was dancing for 10-12 hours a day-so it was okay, wasn't it?). Also, since graduating from college a few years ago, I had gotten lax about my eating habits, since cooking for one seems like so much more effort. Then I started skipping breakfast, which probably made things worse.

Now, I'm trying to make sure I drink enough water (at least 64 oz a day), doing aerobics 5 or 6 times a week in addition to my dancing, and keeping track of what I eat, as well as trying to make sure I'm eating healthy (more fruits and veggies, less cheese, etc.). There are still treats on occasion, but not as many, and hopefully healthier ones (like the peach frozen yogurt I made instead of ice cream). My goal is to make sustainable changes, and so far (in a little over a week) I've lost a few pounds, so it seems to be working. Hopefully I'll be able to use this forum as added motivation to stick with those changes and keep the pound coming off!

sounds like yu got yer goals and plan down, sticking to it is the hard part!!
But we are here for ya!!!
