Less Muscle!!

I have lost 14 pounds over about a 4 month period. The problem is I have not gone down in pant size my waist is the same! Why is this occuring? I have seemed to gained muscle though. My job includs having to walk for 10 hours a day, I do either pilates or tae-bo every day and I also ride a stationary bike for 30 mins everyday. My diet is cut almost in half and yes I've reduced my intake of fats and sugars. How do I lose that "band " without gaining loads of muscle? I already have more muscle then I wan't especially in my legs.

although we lose weight overall, there are some body parts which show signs of fat loss in different parts of our bodies (for some it's the abdomen, others thighs, etc) same as when we gain fat. (e.g. that burger is going straight to my thighs!) don't give up ^_^

Thanks John, I'm determined so I won't, I have noticed my breasts are a little smaller and my face but 14 pounds?....

i lost 13.2 pounds (of fat i am very certain of this) in a month for doing HIIT (the intermmediate 1 minute rest and 20 second 90% HR for 25 minutes <5 minutes warm up>), weight training, and "slow cardio" 4 times a week (and burned myself out for around 4 days before getting back) and when I asked the doctor he says that there is a maximum amount of pounds of fat we could lose and on my weight class it's a maximum of 3.5 to 4 pounds a week and I still didn't meet the maximum amount of fat I should lose. This is in a roughly 1000-1200 calorie a day alotment with no sugar (the refined one, apples or some sweet fruits are ok) no salt, and no simple carbohydrates. I guess what I'm trying to say is (aside from I killed myself yet only lost 6 kilos) our metabolism isn't really universal. Some are fast and some are slow. There are alot of nice people here who could lose more than I could when given the same time frame but I know we are all in the same track of losing weight and being healthy.

Muscles... now that's a different story. Muscles are good because they need energy to function and the more you have of it the more it is likely that your metabolism would be higher! That's why cardio training and weight training are considered very effective when done together. If I were you, I'd be happy to have more muscles! I guess when you are done with losing weight, then you can start thinking about those muscles. Muscles are far very easier to lose than fat. Just being inactive for a given time, your body would realize that it won't need the muscles anymore then it would start to catabolize itself. Wow that was long. ^_^

Actually , John I understood that Shanny lost pounds but not inches. And since muscle is more dense than fat.. you don't lose inches when you lose it, but you do lose pounds. On the other hand where would you get 14 pounds of muscle to lose? You must be weak like a 12 year old girl right now (if you had no previous weight training). I say something is wrong with your measurements.

I am not weak at all right now, actually stronger. I have always been a strong person though. My arms and back and legs seem bigger. My measurements are right! I have not gone down in the waist and I've dropped weight! Like I said the face and breasts went down though.

thus leading back to the issue which is sequential adipose tissue catabolism and metabolic rate variance among individuals ;p

you have more muscle than you want? is that possible? eating fruits fight catabolism. like apples
