Less and More? Slower and Longer?

Hi, I started to do some weights and i had some questions.

Is it better to do like 10 reps of 10 or 5 reps of 20? does it make any difference what so ever?

and

I am chubby, and I do need to lose weight, and that is what im trying to do, which means cardio and weight training, but just a wondering what would happen if all i did was weights for my legs and arms? I am guessing it would not have any effect on my stomach, but im just wondering what would happen if all I did was weights? Would my fat turn to muscle?

Sorry for the questions, I am rather new at all this!
 
All the cardio and weight training in the world will not do anything if you dont have a proper diet. Weight training will build lean muscle and lean muscle burns calories, fat does not. Check the stickies in the nutrition section, find your caloric requirements and stick with a clean diet with a 10-20% deficit to lose the weight. Just remember, all your effort in the gym is wasted if you dont eat right.
