leshric's Before and During

Man, this is hard to do! I don't have many posts, but I've read this forum a lot and have been inspired by many. I figure maybe someone can benefit from seeing my progress as well.

I'm 5' 11", and 28 years old. I've been overweight all of my life. I had lost weight in college, but after graduation, life set in and I gained a lot back. Then I got married to an excellent cook :)

I started in May of 2006 at a lifetime high of 290lbs. My wife and I have been working to get our bodies in check since then with a few lapses. To date I have lost 58 lbs from my highest point and my wife has lost about 35. This time around we've been focused and moving forward since Thanksgiving with no backpedaling. Right now I have a pair of jeans that are size 36 which fit great, and I used to wear a 44!

This is the longest period of time that we've been intense in our pursiut of weight loss so I'm looking to keep it going towards being a lifestyle. That's one of the reasons I'm posting this. I've drawn a lot of motivation from these forums and I'm hoping that ya'll can cheer me on!

Without further ado, here are my before and during pictures. Be kind, please! The first picture is me at 290 lbs. The second picture is from 3/2/08 at 233.5 lbs.

God damn man... come on, I know it... you know, you're proud as shit!

Fantastic progress, and if you need anything as far as support or questions, this is the best place by FAR to get it. I couldn't have done remotely half of what I did without these fine people.

Keep it moving... it only gets better.

Thanks man, I am proud. These side-by-side pictures really show the difference, but it's hard to see the day-to-day changes. I don't remember looking like I do in the before picture.

There's nothing more humbling than posting your pics for all the world to see. But at the same time, there's nothing as motivating as seeing such fantastic results in those side-by-side pics. Great job, congrats!

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll be updating this regularly. I take pictures once/month and maybe I'll put up a new one every other month. My current goal is to get to 225 by April 1 with a stretch goal of 220.

Fantastic job! Be sure to post more progress pics as you go so we can see how you're awesome progress. Congrats to your wife on her loss too!

As of today, I've officially lost over 60 lbs. Another milestone, woohoo! Got a new exercise routine working with upper/lower body splits and it's kicking my butt, but in a good way. Happy Easter!

YOU LOOK AWESOME!! You can see SUCH a difference!! You look so much thinner in your face also!! Great job!!!

Great job Leshric :) All your hard working is showing. What a difference :) And yes plz give a congrats to your wife as well :) Im looking forward to seeing more progress pics from you in the future :D Keep up the outstanding work

Well, for the month, I've lost 11 lbs. 1 more than my goal, so I'm very pleased. Going to set this month's goal at 215. Got a wedding for a college friend coming up in mid-May so I hope I can make some more significant changes before then since I haven't seen him in about 7 years.

Couldn't really tell much of a difference in this month's pictures, so I'm not posting them. I took measurements and the biggest changes were in my arms and legs, so that's probably why I don't see the difference. I hope next month's loss comes more from my stomach, my body is stubborn about giving it up!

Amazing job ~ you look fantastic!!!

That's great that you have lost 11 pounds in the last month, keep it up!

Good shit... remember the scale is a number that doesn't really mean TOO much in terms of looking good. It's a small part of the equation, where you're taking measurements is key!

Most men store fat first in the lower abdominals, sides of the waist and lower back. Women tend to store fat first in the hips, upper thighs, and often the back of the arms. As body fat percentage increases further, you will continue to deposit fat in those spots and everywhere else on your body - even your face and fingers. Once deposited, you can’t selectively choose where you withdraw the fat – you will lose fat all over your body and it will more or less come off in reverse order: The first place you put it on will be the last place it comes off.

Spot Reduction STILL Doesn't Work

You might have the desire to remove the fat on these concentrated, localized fatty spots first, but unfortunately, that’s not how human physiology works. In fitness lingo, we call this “spot reduction.” It’s the idea that you can do certain exercises, rub cream on one part of your body, or take a certain drug, and it will melt the fat off one part of your body and one part only. The idea is wrong - spot reduction is physiologically impossible.

That whole article is a good read actually, I have a ton of respect for Tom Venuto and his book, check it out, sometime.

You know, I know this but sometimes I need to hear it again (and again). My girlfriend told me the other day that I don't look like someone who has 40 pounds to lose so numbers aren't everything.

I actually have the book he is referring to, it is really long but I think I am going to sit down and start trying to process it.

Just a quick update. As of this past weekend, I've lost over 70 lbs! On the clothes front, I've been resurrecting older parts of my wardrobe to keep up, but that's starting to not cut it. So... on Sunday I went shopping for a few new shirts and a pair of shorts.

I have one pair of pants that are size 36 that fit, but most of my current shirts are XL and I used to wear 2XL. I figured that I might be a large in some brands, but probably still be a 2X in others, and the same with the pants, I figured I was probably only 36 in that one style. Well... my wife goes and grabs a bunch of Large shirts and a bunch of 36 shorts. EVERYTHING fit! And not only that... most of the shirts were too big! I ended up buying one large and one MEDIUM! I still can't believe it.

I'll post a pic of myself later tonight maybe. (I look much better dressed than shirtless) And I'll have a new shirtless pic at the end of the month. Thanks for the support!
