Stardate I still can't shake the Trekker in me sometimes...
Anyway, over the last three years not only have I managed to gain a college education, but also nearly 40 pounds in the process. In the beginning of freshman year, the freshman 15 for me worked in reverse, because I didn't eat a whole lot due to being shy about eating around others. However, the college schedule eventually took its toll. They say its better to pace your meals throughout the day, but being dependent on the cafeteria a lot of the time meant eating maybe 2 big meals a day on the average. Combine that with a sedentary lifestyle because the gym made me nervous, and after graduation I was 250 pounds at a height of 6'2".
Over the last week or so I've really been trying to start some kind of exercise routine. It isn't much so far, because I'm way out of shape because I haven't regularly exercised in so long. So far, I've been trying to walk maybe a mile and a half each day, while jogging/running some of that until I get winded. I'm hoping to slowly but surely be able to jog more and more of it. I'm trying to start doing some crunches too, and lift some weights. My parents got rid of our machine I used to do bench presses on, so I've been trying to do my best with two eight pound weights.
The eating habits are probably the hardest thing. It's hard not to eat out of boredom sometimes.
Anyway, I tried to start this around the end of last month, and was down to 245 last Friday. However, I had a not so good weekend and am now at 246.5
I think why I'm really trying to lose weight now when I didn't try so much in past summers is because I just finished school. I have this feeling like it can be a fresh start, with a new schedule so I can begin a new lifestyle. If I can even get back to around 210-220 I can feel like I can approach people with more confidence, which will help me in the work world and also in maybe actually meeting someone after not having any relationships in college.
