Hey everyone.

Feeling like a big loser at the moment >.<
I just got a exercise bike! YAY it's a Delta type, Pretty decent it's not brand new it was given to me by a friend.

Has a heart rate thing ya put on ya ear >.< and one of the less comfy bike seats which is fine cause I put a pillow on it anyway lol.

Anyway I set it to lowest and got going and 2 mins in back of my legs started to hurt abit then 3 mins I had to stop >.<

I wasn't going fast I was actually waiting for a snail to overtake me >.<
I'm not MEGA overweight either I'm 220 and wanna be 160 with a 180 pit stop.

Anyway I was wondering b4 I start on the bike is there any kinda oil or cream that I can put on my legs to ease them up and get them used to the circle type exercise motion,
Walking isn't a problem at all no pain apart from a lil ache when I walk a LONG way.

I don't wanna rush it either because I have under developed lungs so don't wanna mass strain them too much.

Any ideas what I can do?

I'd make sure that the seat is in the best position for your legs... you shouldn't have leg pain when cycling...

I dunno what it's called.
It's the bigger but at the back between ya ankle and ya knee(at back)

So ya have

(Waist)
(Legs)
(Knee)
(Painful but)
(Ankle)
(Foot)

I so suck at this >.<

Steve's smarter than me when it comes to this

I'd make sure that your feet are flat on the pedals and the seat is at a good height so that you aren't stretching your calves too much...

you could also probably do calf stretches...

Is it like a cramp? Or more of a dull pain? Does it hurt continuously once it starts?

It's kinda like achey pain.
Cramp is more like a burst of pain and gone where this stays til I stop.

Ya know when ya walked up a really high hill and ya get that warm achey sore pain it's like that

Yea, I was wondering the same thing about your seat height. It should be set to a height that allows a minor flexion of the knee when the ball of your foot is on the pedal in the down-pedal position.

It could be a flexibility issue. It could be something like tendonitis. In all seriousness, if it's bad enough to keep you from exercising..... I highly suggest seeing a doc.

If it's poor flexibility, I'd suggest starting a stretching routine

Floor Board Straight Leg Calf Stretch

Step Straight Leg Calf Stretch

This article would be worth a read as well... I highly suggest some soft tissue work, especially if the doc has nothing good to offer:

Just been upto Boots On Spot Medical Check.
They said it's normal if I'm new to it.
Also I should do as you said and some pre stretches and take it slow and steady.

Thanks ^.^
I was abit worried hehe feel abit less of a loser now.

Back to my bike! hehe
I even got my tea sorted.
Boiled Noodles & Chinese turkey breast who said ya can't enjoy Chinese without the fat ^^

And during the walk to Boots I wore my new Pedo and it says
Cals: 280
KM: 7562
Miles: 3.344

so very happy with that
and it was a pre leg workout

Just got back on the bike after lowering seat and now I'm ok for 5 mins but then my knee's start to hurt >.<
Is this normal cause my legs aren't use to it?

Boots said to take a bath after work outs(well der I'd do that anyway cause of sweat etc)

Do your knees ever bother you when you're walking? Biking is fairly low impact so I shouldn't think they'd bother you - you might want to play with the seat adjustment again - or try slowing down the speed you're going at...

The speed I'm going at is really low.
It seems that when I use the seat next setting higher it hurts my leg yet when I go one lower my knee hurts >.<
Could it be my body not been used to it? well my legs?
And nope my Knee's are fine when I walk.
I managed 5 mins on the bike which is more then last time but then owwy in the knee and had to stop.
I will try messing with seat more tommrow.

Maybe it's too low now 0.0
