Hi all,

Was wondering whether lebanese food would be considered reasonably healthy? Im asking because myself and my boyfriend are looking to book a restaurant to celebrate 1 year together :p . Im aware that the meal is probably not going to be my healthiest day ever but I dont want to pick something too bad either. Theres a new lebanese restaurant near us so was just wondering if it might be a reasonable choice?

Thanks

the lebanese food I've had is mainly mediterrean based (note to self: learn how to spell that word) so it's a lot of olive oil and fresh ingredients.

Taboulleh salad is a wonderful blend of bulgur wheat, tomatoes and cukes with lemon juice and olive oil
Hummus would probably be an appetizer (garbonzo beans, olive oil, garlic, lemon, and tahini (a sesame peanut butter) - the pita it's usually served with is a little calorie intensive, but not bad calories -

Basically you're gonna find a lot of fresh ingredients, a lot of grilled meats -very few dense sauces and olive oil - it's all good for you stuff - enjoy everything - in moderation.

Not to forget that the Lebanese have some of the best tasting food on earth (if it is true Lebanese food that is).

Gawd, I love Lebanese food! Yum-my.:drooling::drooling:

Just go easy on the delicious pita bread. Oh, I could fill up on pita bread and hummous before the main course arrives. :D
