Learning from your mistakes

Well, I fell off the wagon during Christmas holidays at my in-laws. That was about five days ago, and I've been eating full-steam since then. It's funny how that works, isn't it?

Anyway, I haven't erased all my gains since then (thank the Lord), which is why I'm forcing myself to get back on the wagon now. I've learned that I have to eat ONLY what's permitted on my specific diet, regardless of what's been put on the table before me. I was afraid I'd hurt my in-laws feelings if I didn't partake of their forbidden-to-me Christmas dinner, and it cost me. It'll probably take me at least two weeks of hard dieting/exercising to get back to where I was before.

Now I know to stick to my pre-arranged diet *no matter what*. I don't think someone is going to fault me for that. But now that I've identified and isolated a weakness in my dieting journey, I believe I'll be able to avoid that pitfall in the future.

Welcome to the forum, but I'm curious what this 'diet' is. Is it because of medical reasons or just your plan to lose weight?

well, don't beat yourself up too much on it. remember that this should be a lifestyle change, not something you will just do for a few months before eating 'normally'. That means sometimes you will overdo it a bit. That's fine. It's ok. Just remain focused and you will be ok. It's not a race. Sometimes we all take a slower pace for a bit.
