Lean Body Mass Growth During Weight Loss

I am interested in knowing if anyone has references to good sources of information as to what is the normal lean body mass growth (measured in number of pounds) in the early stages of weight loss.

If someone is undertaking both strength training, cardo exercises and calorie deficit diet, there will be underlying lean body mass increase based on enhanced muscle development through strength training.

I am looking for reputable sources of information on the net, books or elsewhere.

In my experience the best you can hope for when losing weight (calorie deficit) is to maintain LBM or to lose LBM very slowly.

That said, I'm a long way from being an expert.

FYI - These are my bodysats showing weight, bodyfat, LBM (from my bathroom scale)

So after the initial few months the weight I've lost has been approx 2/3 fat and 1/3 LBM assuming my cheapo WalMart scale measures bodyfat % accurately. I doubt it's super-accurate but I like the changes I'm seeing and that's really more important than a raw number.

Not an expert myself, but increased strength does not necessarily equal increased LBM.

The concensus appears to be that unless you are extremely obese, and haven't lifted a day in your life, you are going to be unable to build lbm and lose weight at the same time. (newb gains lol)

Typically when you are on a calorie deficit, when you lose weight it is parts body fat and muscle (lbm). Proper diet and exercise can help you curb the loss of LBM while you lose weight, so the net result is more body fat being consumed for energy.
