lat pull downs

ok guys i present you all with a problem that is erking me bigg time. i do lat pull downs my form is prefect i' ve had ppl watch me to make sure, but my bbehind comes off the seat. this is a problem i can't seem to correct. this is only at 35 lbs and it is keeping me from progressing. i am disturbed. any suggestions?? plz and thank you.

I have the same problem. Only I do around 120lbs, and me being only 116lbs, it kinda pulls me up, but I just anchor my legs, and problem solved.

that would be the ones and i know my position is good and i have the guard at the rihgt spot too but i still get pulled up. should i put the bar right up to my hips in an effort to stay down i think that would throw off my position and screw up my form. i'm only pulling 35 lbs its not alot and i want to go heavier but my hinny will not let me i even thought about tieing myself to the bench??

ok nobody the legs are anchored too so why does this not work for me. 35 lbs is nothing i need more weight.

I have no idea maybe you might need to get some momentum before you pull. You can certainty move your back towards the floor to speak to generate power, i do.

when you pull down and then you let the bar back up try to let it up slowly i guess but its only 35 lbs so iono

Jenn, Can you post the make and model of the machine so we can look it up.

If your legs are secure then it shouldnt be a prob, so im stumpped. You could try pull ups instead. If its a cable pull down, you may be able to change the bar to a single hand grip, that way you only need half the weight.

aaaarrrrgggg i'm so frustrated i let the bar up slowly and i don't need to get momentum bc i can easily pull down 35lbs. its only 35lbs for god sake. the only answer that i seem to get is that i am small so the weight just pulls me up bc of my size, i don't see that this is the reason. but i can't seem to be able to fix it either. so maybe if there is an alternate exercise i should do instead. i already do bent over upright rows with a bar. ???

its a school gym and i'm not back ther until tuesday so i'll go look. i'm working at the hospital fri- mon so there is no chance to sneak in b4 then. its a standard machine though. an di do adjust it for my height requirements.

maybe this will help to figure things out- i have no problem onthe pull down the return is where i have lift off. if that makes sense to you all. and thanks guys for the answers so far. i do appreciate it.

Oh its a standing machine???!!!!!
In that case you need something to weigh you down. Maybe if you get a barbell, with your body weight on it and put it on the floor. Then sitt on the floor and roll it over your thighs. If you have large weights you should b able to fit your legs under it.

Yeah try pull ups/chin ups instead.

While we are on the subject, does anyone explaine this...

I can pull 90kg on the lat pull down machine, for 8reps, but I can only do 6pull ups with the same width grip. I weigh 60kg. It just dosnt seem right!

It's not the same thing. That's the obvious answer-- but specifically, it could be a number of things. For one, you have to balance yourself, so maybe you're just getting fatigued earlier. Don't sweat it, we all probably do the same thing. The best way to get good at pull ups is to do pull ups.

manofkent its not a standing machine its seated.any ideas on this one like i said i thought of tieing myself to it but that would look pretty funny at the gym.not to meantion that could be dangerous.

manofkent, for one, you use a lot more stability muscles to do a pull up, which makes it harder. For two, lat pull machines almost always have some sort of mechanical advantage, like pulleys or levers.
