Kristi's Journal

Diary seems so personal...I want everybody to see, so I can get all the support and motivation possible.:)

So this is my journal. I am 17-years-old and my senior year is sneaking up on me, which means that soccer is sneaking up even faster. School soccer has become a very important, fun part of my life, and I would love to be able to continue playing in college. To do that with the price of colleges now means that I NEED to get a scholarship. I have a pretty good resume thus far since I have started since my freshman year, and I was nominated as an honorable mention player by my district. However, I cannot depend alone on my past accomplishments. THAT is why I have decided to get back in shape. Over the past 2 years I have gained 25 pounds, and I have noticed a big change in my performance. I used to be able to play a whole game without coming out once, and last season I was almost always the first one out of the game. I can visibly see the fat on my stomach, legs, and butt. I wear sweatshirts and pants to school because I am embarassed, and I have completely taken on the "tomboy" look.

A little over a month ago, after reading that my body fat was at 26%, I decided to start eating healthily and exercising. In that month I have dropped a little over 10 pounds. I started at 146, and I am now at 135. My goal is to get down to 120, which was how much I weighed during my freshman year. I have done very well so far with the support of my boyfriend, friends, and mom (kinda), but I know that these next 15 or so pounds are going to be the hardest, and this is just the kind of website I need to help out.

Thanks, guys!

Way to go on the weight loss you have already had and on starting your diary! It's definitely a great place to start! THere are tons of supportive people here, and congrats on being such a valuable player on your soccer team!

Since you are so active, make sure you are eating enough each day!

Today was a good day for me, which was most definitely needed. My boyfriend came home from Lake Tahoe on Wednesday and has since been practically shoving food in my mouth. The nachos, the late night sandwiches, pizza...All of this added up to about 2 pounds in 3 days, and I woke up this morning so frustrated with myself. I had a little talk with the boy today about being a good influence on me, and he seemed to understand that I need his help. So this was basically my day...

Breakfast-Bowl of cheerios w/1% milk and a banana
Snack-about 1 cup of cheerios, Kix, Raisins, and dried pinneapples
Lunch-Turkey and colby jack cheese sandwich on light wheat with a tiny bit of mayonaisse and onions, 1 cup of vanilla yogurt, and 1 cup of milk
Dinner-Bowl of Salad w/Italian dressing, cup of grapes, and blu cheese bow tie pasta
Snack-1 cup of cheerios

I went to the gym around 1 where I did my leg weight resistance cycle. I do 3 sets of leg press, 3 sets of this glute extension thing, and 4 sets of machine squats

After resistance training I went straight to the treadmill where I did my HITT program. It consists of walking at 3 mph to 4 minutes, then jogging at 6 mph until 10 minutes. At 10 minutes I run at 8 mph for 30 seconds then go back to 6 mph and jog for 30 seconds. I repeat these intervals to the 17 minute mark gradually increasing my running speed. At 16 minutes I run at 9 mph for a whole minute, and then walk at 3 mph for the remaining 3 minutes. Then I went to the elipticals and did them for about 20 minutes.

I feel good about today and hope that I can keep this up.

today was not so good....

actually it was fine until I went to chipotle and had a burrito bowl at like 3:30. Grrrr...

I worked out after this and that was not a good decision because I started running and after about 10 minutes I thought I might throw up. I already had done the stair masters for 20 and bike for 10, and when I went into the locker room after the treadmill I thought I might get sick. Grrr...plus after all that hard work, I only lost .8 pounds.

I wish I had a leg press machine! I love doing those!

I had the same problem you had about almost regurgitating when getting on the treadmill after eating one day. It wasn't a pretty feeling. You only had those calories for one meal. The whole day wasn't bad!

It seems like even though you have some weight you want to lose, that you are still in pretty good shape! I wish I could run like you are!!!

Keep up the good work!

I don't mean to sound jealous, but your young metabolism and your love for sports will have you at 120 in no time! I know exactly how you feel--just keep active and eat healthfully and you'll get to your goal in a snap!

Thanks guys...

the only thing I am worried about with soccer is that in the past I havent worked out on my own because I have soccer 3 days of the week, but the practices end up being less of a workout than my gym workout. I hope that I have enough will power to continue going to the gym during soccer.

I remember when I was younger I used to eat like 3 bagels for breakfast and not gain a pound. My stepmom was always telling me about how I should make better habits because my metabolism will slow as I get older, and I was like what the heck is a metabolsim as I continued to spread cream cheese on my onion bagel. If only I knew....

I need a massage, I can feel some tight spots in my back. Where's that boy when you need him, eh?

Woke up at 135, and I am going to bed at around 136.5. Not terrible, but not what I want.

I never weigh myself at night because of all the things I have eaten and drank during the day. I find that I can be anywhere from 1-4 lbs heavier at night and if I am already feeling depressed, then it makes it worse and I tend to snack for no reason. Maybe you are different, I hope at least.

You are doing great! Keep up the great work!

gooooosh...I dont want to go to the gym.

I am in a completely blah mood.

I told my boyfriend just to come over without calling, so I cant tell him not to. Plus if he's there, I have someone to push me.

Is it okay for me to do leg weight resistance training every other day? My butt is still sore from Sunday, but I really want to do legs again.

Is it okay for me to do leg weight resistance training every other day? My butt is still sore from Sunday, but I really want to do legs again.

I'm no expert, but from personal experience I would say yes, because I found that as long as I stretch, even if I'm sore from a day before yesterday's weight training session, I do fine--AND for some reason I don't get sore-er. I actually have been wondering that myself, why sometimes if I'm sore, then weight train anyway, then do cardio with squats the next, I'm not sore anymore. Hmmm, probably conditioning. The worst part of being in shape is how quickly one can fall out of shape--it sucks! Good thing exercise is addicting (for me anyway) :p

Feelin good. :)

I did some legs today, and then I did my HIIT program on the treadmills, then biked for 10. Even though this is less than what I usually do, I felt good when I was done.

Had green bean casserole for dinner...with a side of deli ham and around 8 quaker rice snack things. Yummy.

Well, today I got a job at lifetime fitness as a lifeguard, so I am happy!

AND

I woke up this morning at 134! :) So basically today has been going great. I am about to go to the gym, and I feel like I am going to get a good workout.

Started at 135.6
Ended at 134.0

so clooooose to 133....yay.

I did some legs today and then the elipticals for 40 minutes.

Congrats! Great job--nice with the HIIT, I need to do that--I kind of do it already in my gym classes I take--my instructor's are really good and in excellent shape. Looks like you're on the road to 120!

Nice work

Wow I am tired. My boyfriend and I just completely zonked while watching Kicking and Screaming. Any way, today was good. My scale read 133 for the first time in ages. Granted that it was right after I got done working out, but still! I am proud. I wanted 133 by Saturday, and I got it a whole day early! This is a long, slow process, but I am getting there nonetheless. Go me. :)

Soooo...I am sort of talking to myself here, but oh well.

Today, I went in for a re-evaluation with my trainer after about 4 weeks, and my leg strength has increased A LOT. Before I could do 25 reps of leg press at 115 pounds....today I did 40 reps at 150!

At the end of my workout today I was at 132.8. :) I started at 134.2, so I lost 1.4 pounds.

Recently, I have been noticing little differences. For example, my favorite, sexy pushup bra used to be almost too small, and it would make me have bad back fat. Now, it fits perfectly! Also, my boyfriend bought me a ring for Valnetine's day last year, and it used to be tight around my finger. Lately, it has been spinning all over the place. Who would have thought that you'd see weight loss in your fingers? lol Lastly, I tried on these shorts from Abercrombie that I bought in January, and I need a belt to hold them up! I am so excited!

congratulations on all those victories -- thats awesome.. I've noticed he same thing with the ring i wear -it's definitely too big now..

Congrats on all your hard work. I want to eventually do HIIT but, I think I need to get my regular exercise stabilized first.

I can't wait until I can fit into all the nice clothes that I have in my closet that don't fit me anymore. I can't wait to go shopping again, I got a nice giftcard to Hollister for xmas and I have been hesitating to use it because I have wanted to take this weight off for so long...

Congrats on the job as well!!!! Happy Day :)

-Sam

thanks guys....

Last night, I had a somewhat healthy dinner, and THEN I had 2 slices of cottage inn pizza. Goooosh...Im at 135 again, and I havent even eaten breakfast.

Okay.....

GOSH DARN IT!!!!!

yesterday I ate a half rack of ribs, french fries, and nachos from Friday's and I went back up to 138. How is it possible to gain 4 pounds from one meal? I thought maybe it would go down when I weighed myself this morning, but no such luck. When I weighed in at the gym today I was at 137. I worked so hard to get down to 133, and now I've just shot up in one day. How annoying. I am just gonna have to work even harder.

On a better note, I had a good workout today and was down to 134.8 by the end. Did legs, then bike for 10, then HIIT program for 20 then stairmaster for 10.
