KnEEs

I have horrible knees and was jes wondering if anybody can give me some advice on some good leg workout routines that wont put that much pressure on your knees I'm have n a hard time get n them toned

Thanx :)

What's wrong with them? I had knee surgey a few years ago and i just started to do squats, stepups, SDL's etc and i'm getting better.

I had plica sydrome.

i have bad knees too but not too terrible. frankly, if it wasnt for glucosamine i'd be in big trouble. flax oil helps out too.

but like newf said, whats wrong with them

kettlebells

i dislocated my knee and tore the ligament in the fall. the doc said i needed to get my quads stronger to hold my knee cap in place but i wasn't able to on account of the pain in both knees. kettlebells will make your legs strong as hell and strenghten the muscles that hold your ligaments. they also tone you up...and you only need one kettlebell.

Well I had went to the doctor and got them looked at got X rays and everything but she couldn't figure out what was wrong with them. Its jes when I work out they start hurting If I 'm walking alot somewhere they start hurting it's weird. They used to be alot worse I would jes be sitting and if I kept my leg extended for awhile I would get sharp pains and I would have to hurry up and move them. i have no idea what it is I have been athletic my whole life I never had knee trouble untill like a year ago. i have been taking glucosamine and i think it's called fish oil or something and I think it's been helping a little I jes get scared when I do leg workouts cuz I don't want to make them even worse and I really want to tone my thighs

I taught myself anything and everything about working out and dieting maybe I messed them up by doing certain workouts for my legs wrong. I dunno I guess I'll jes continue to take glucosamine and jes see where that takes me I only been taken it for like a month so I think I need to wait a little longer to see more results

the leg extension is a good place to start.. you put no pressure on the joint, just the quadriceps. later on if you think your muscles are strong enough you can try squating. you can also try going on the cycle.

where does it hurt in the knee? the back? the side? front? inside? all over? what kind of pain is it? is it only during walking/running/exercises that you feel it? do you feel like for a moment your knee doesnt support you or hear cracking noises?

well My mom has really bad knees but she has this thing I don't know if it's called a ghout or however u spell it but the have to go to the doc and take a needle and drain out all the fluid. well I went to the doctor and she said she had no idea what it was cuz at the the time I went to the doc which was last year I was only 19 so she said I was to young to have loss of cardilage and my knee wasn't swollen or anything. Ya it hurts even when I'm not exercising like I can't cross my leg on top of another one cuz it starts hurting and in cali I collapsed someone told me it was cuz of the humidity but yesterday my knee had a horrible pain on the top of it, normally it's like inside. I'm totally cluless of what it is but it' annoying cuz i'm only 20 I have always been active I love workin out and bein healthy i mean 15 years from know I would have expected it but 19 jeeze I don't I'll jes keep on taken glucosamine and see where that takes me It's the only thing i can really think of

i agree with your docter though, you're too young to have loss of cardilage.

does it hurt when you bend your knee.. or sit with your knees bent? is walking up stairs more painful? try pressing on your knee cap while your leg is in fully extended position.. is it very sore?

i think you might be better of with a physical therapist then a docter though.. physio's have more experiences with this i think then docters.

Alright this is just a suggestion. But there is a ligament attached to your knee when your younger, and as you age it detiorates, but for some people it doesnt. It can cause un- noticable to severe pain when working out. During my knee surgery i had it cut, and to put less strain on my knees i have been biking and mix in seated leg squats every so often. My suggestion would be to get an MRI to be completely sure everything in the area is a-okay and try biking with some seated squats. Go for high repititions at first.

Side note: After my leg workouts(15-60 minutes) I consume a we ll balanced meal consisting with healthy antioxidants because it is proven that they increase muscle and tissue healing and after a workout your blood is pumping the most giving the nutrients of your food to all of your body with maximum efficiency. I would also Ice and take 2-3 advil/ibuprofen after each leg workout. My opinion.

Good luck
