knee problem...

when i was in highschool at a certain point i had a big issue with my knees, they would always hurt and my knee caps would move around quite loosly, then the problem went away on its own and i never thought about it again, until recently when i had my son and it seems that the heavier he gets the more my knees are hurting me.
i tried telling my husband about it when he pt's me, like that i cant do certain excercises because my knees are killing me, or that they crack everytime im walking up and down the stairs, and he just pretty much brushes me off and tells me not to be a weenie...
any one have any ideas on what i can do? as far as excercises....
oh and before any one says, see a doc. i dont have insurance...so i gotta kinda wing it.

Do you have knee supports?

I use a triple strap support, but Mike Robertson recommended rehbands (expensive, but many powerlifters swear by them),

TriFlex from GNC works well for me (keep in mind that I get things for free there, I would purchase it somewhere else if I couldn't lol)

Caveat- I am not a doctor, you might ask your PCP tp take a look at it.

But it sounds like you have a spontaneously dislocating knee cap, which is fairly common. You can get one of those knee stabilizing braces (>$10 at WalMart) which should solve the problem if you run or jog, or walk long distances.

Also, leg extensions will strengthen the muscles that hold the knee cap in place.

I would never suggest leg extensions to someone with existing knee problems. leg extensions put the knee in a scary position MORE prone to injury than squats!

see a doctor

Look for Tropical Oasis's Joint Complete. It's a mixture of glucosamine, chondroiton, MSM, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid (I love hyaluronic acid). That and Nordic Natural's liquid cod liver oil keeps my joints happy ('cept for this wrist problem...ART here I come).

I'm like Mreik; I get the stuff for free, but it's not overly expensive.

I only recommended leg extentions for a spontaneously dislocating knee as this is what the doctor told my husband and he has seen much improvement.
