Knee cap dislocation recovery

Last October i suffered what I later found out was a knee cap dislocation which had me on crutches for a number of weeks. I am now getting back into my training after being an athlete since 6 this amount of time off was a big thing for me. I was just wondering if anyone knew the best way to train back up the strength of my knee. My physio said i was to build up my quads. Im assuming that i am going to need to build up my vastus M/L. Any advice on exercises i can do on a daily basis with limited equipment i.e. my small university room and standard uni gym with limited equipment i do have access to free weights, ball, leg curl/extender machine, cycle machine, running machine and rowing machine. Any help with this would be really appreciated as i am very eager to get back into sport!!!
