Kino's weightloss journey

Hey all,

I'm new here. Well sort of. I joined back in August but I guess I wasn't really ready to do what I needed to do and I took a break from weightloss and this website.

For the past few weeks I've been around here reading threads and making posts here and there and now I'm ready to start my journal once again.

I am 5'3', 21 years old and weigh 169.8 lbs. My first goal is to get down to the 150's. I've been stuck in the 167-172 range for a year now and at my lowest I was still only 163, so getting down to 159 would break down the barrier that I've been up against all year.

I am gaining lots of new information everyday on exercising and nutrition, I am a member of weight watchers for the past week and a half and in a week have lost 2.2lbs which I am happy with.

I also have a gym membership but I've been lacking with it lately so I need to get my butt in gear and start going again. Anyway I really feel like I'll do it this time. I was on weight watchers a year and a half ago and lost 20lbs but being a poor student I could only afford 8 weeks of it and stopped going. Hence the 10lb weight gain. But this time I've signed up for 26 weeks. My goal would be to get down around 130-135 so I don't have A LOT of weight to lose which means 26 weeks should do it :)

I really enjoy this website alot, everyone is so supportive, friendly, funny and it's just really refreshing to be able to come here and get information on such varying topics from people all over the world who are going through the same thing I am.

So this is an open diary. Please drop in and say hi, I'd love to hear from you!

I write down what I eat to count points anyway so I'll probably keep a food and exercise diary too.

Thanks for coming by! :D

welcome back

Welcome back to WLF. You've got lots of support now. Remember its one day at a time. One meal at a time. Enjoy the good days ahead.

^ thank you :D

I'm keeping pretty motivated which is great. Weight watchers seemed to be the only thing that kept me going for any length of time. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was getting weighed in or the thought of my treat days.

Hi!

I'm stopping by to say "good for you" and congratulations for getting serious about being healthy again. You've done so well with your weight loss!
Keep on keeping on!
Cheryl:)

So I went to the gym for the first time in a week and a half today and it felt great! I decided to take the first week of being on Weight Watchers off from the gym because when I did WW the first time I didn't exercise and had great results. So in a way I guess I wanted to do the exact same thing as I did before in order to ensure success. But of course, exercise is very very important.

So I went today and I did 35 minutes of cardio and some ab work and stretching. I'm not going to do weights quite yet, I think I'd like to lose weight first and then work on defining my muscles. We'll see what happens.

Oh boy, I hope this works! I also drank 64 oz of water so I need to drink another quart.

Feeling Optimistic! :)

Hey all,

I didn't clock what I ate yesterday online but I did it on paper and it was within my points range.

So far today I've eaten:

1 slice WH bread - 1.5 pts
1 TBS of Peanut Butter- 1 pts

1 packet of Oatmeal- 2 pts

1/2 cup of .5% Milk- 1 pts

= 5.5 Pts

1 yogurt- 1pt
1/3 cup bran buds- .5 pts

1 cup low calories chili- 4 pts

= 11 pts

I'll update with the rest later.

So tomorrow is my weigh in at Weight Watchers. I'm fairly certain that I'll lose a little bit but not a lot :(. Now in my mind I KNOW that 1-2lbs weight loss is good and normal and healthy but I can't help but feel a little disappointed that I wont have lost more.

Last week I weighed in on Saturday and this week I'm weighing in on Friday and next week I'll weigh in on Saturday again (Saturday is my normal weigh in day but Friday works out better as a treat day this week). So really 1-2 lbs in 5 days is pretty good, right?

I guess I'm needing some reassurance that this is ok. I did really well this week. I didn't splurge at all, I didn't cheat, I tracked everything, drank my water and exercised a bit.

Le Sigh...weight loss is such a pain in the butt :)

Weigh ins

Hi!
Hey, don't knock a pound or two loss!! You are going down in weight and that is so so wonderful!!!:)
You are doing A LOT for yourself and your health.
Have a good day!
Cheryl

^ Thank you:) I appreciate the encouragement!

Well I weighed in yesterday and just as I had suspected, I lost 1lbs. Which is good, better 1 lost than 1 gained, right? :)

That said, I do need to step it up a bit. I've not been exercising and I only drank my water 2 or 3 days last week so if I get strict on both of those things then I'm sure I'll see some better results:) I know it's only an extra pound but I'd love to lose 2lbs a week!

Yesterday was my treat day so as a rule I don't record what I eat those days, though I did eat a lot and I have to say...some of what I ate was just for the sake of eating. So next week I'll eat just things I might be craving and if that happens to be nothing then I wont eat anything. It's not like I'll never get to eat junk food again or anything. Plus eating all that crap in one day makes for a very icky feeling the next day and after feeling so good all week, quite frankly, it's not worth it!

Next week we have a birthday in the family, so I'll enjoy my cake and likely some pizza and chips, and leave it at that.

Either way, I only had 5 full days to diet last week and this week I have 7 so here's hoping I see some changes!! :)

I hope everyone's having a good weekend!

cute photo

And you Are seeing changes. Like 50 pounds a year changes, or 25 pounds in six months at your current rate. Or twelve pounds in 3 months.

I think Weight Watchers works because it is sensible. You cut back but not so much that you can't adhere to it. And you have your extra weekly points.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you both:) I know I'm seeing changes and I think I'm finally really accepting the fact that weight loss will be no quick fix:) I think that's my biggest hurdle because in my mind sometimes, if I don't lose 5 lbs right away then I mustn't be meant to lose weight and I give up, gain weight and am back or further from where I started! So I'm very thankful that I'm starting to see the light, so to speak. :)

Breakfast

Oatmeal- 2 pts
1 bread- 1.5 pts
1/2 tbsp of Peanut Butter- 1 pts

Snack

1 Light Yogurt- 1 pt
1/3 cup Bran Buds- .5 pt

1 cup V8 juice- 1 pt

Lunch

1 WH bread- 1.5 pts
1/2 can Tuna Fish- .5 pts
1 in cube low fat cheese- 2 pts
1/2 tsp Olivia margarine- .5 pts

Snack

16 Crispy Mini's- 2pts

Total so far: 13.5 pts

Points left: 12.5

Enough for supper and another snack :)

Weight loss is such a slow process - but think of this time as the time our bodies need to adjust to better habits.

If it was a quick thing, we'd be back at our old habits and our old weight all too soon.

I don't ever want to do that AGAIN!
:)

Me either! I'll never be able to express how much better I feel after I've lost some weight than after I've eaten some greasy fast food. Fast food really is just a temporary pleasure and literally seconds after I've eaten I feel terrible.

6 months might seem like a long time to make some big changes but living the rest of my life happily is certainly worth it :)

reading this is motivating!!

it will definitely be worth the time and the effort in the end!! :)

i just read "fitness not only adds years to your life, but life to your years!"

Howdy Kino,
Thank you for stopping by and visiting my diary.Wow your doing great congrats on your success so far.I can't wait to see 160's.
Have a nice day Tammy

^ thank you for visiting :)

I didn't write yesterday. The night before that, I had a little too much sugar but that's alright, it's over now and I don't feel too bad about it. Yesterday was much much better and I even drank my water and got to the gym :)

So for today:

Breakfast

2 eggs - 4 pts (should have only had one whole egg but I ate both)
1 slice WH Bread- 1.5 pts
1 tbsp- 1 pts

1/2 cup V8 juice- .5 pts

= 7 pts

Lunch

1 cup mixed veggies and asparagus- 0 pts
27 French Fries- 3 pts

= 10 pts

Snack

low fat jello pudding- 2 pts (I think)

12 crispy minis- 1.5 pts

Supper

Fries- 2.5 pts
salmon paddy- 5 pts
veggies- 0 pts

Snack

strawberries- 1 pt
Whipped Cream- 1 pt

Popcorn- 1 pt

= 23 pts

So I just read an article about the benefits of olive oil in a person's diet. A research study has concluded that adding/ substituting olive oil for butter/margarine etc could have the same effects on the bodies ability fighting cancer cells as quitting smoking does. That's really interesting. I try to eat it a few times a day anyway but I had no idea it has such great potential consequences!

I really love how I'm living in an age where we are so educated on the foods that can help us stay healthy for longer. Sometimes I feel sad that so many people didn't have this advantage and as a result suffered tremendously so I really feel grateful for the information we have. I think we all need to be thankful and not take this information for granted.

I hope everyones having a good Monday!
