kinds of abs?

I have noticed that many people have different kinds of abs. Some people have a nice big ab muscles(which i want) and some people have small kind of skinny abs all bunched together. I want to know what i have to do to get nice big abs?????????? any suggestions on what i should to get different results? im not sure if it is possible to work them differently or if it is just the way a certain persons muscles are built?
 
It does have a bit to do with genetics and how your body develops muscles but that wont stop you from having nice abs. burn the fat and continue to strenthen, Weights can help build but if you don't have access to the gym equipment, get creative. your legs or upper body can offer a lot of resistance. make sure to get a well rounded ab workout, you can't just do crunches.
 
Hi everybody, can anyone explain me why even when I perform reverse crunches I only and mostly feel like only my "upper" abs are working and soaring?? I know it is one muscle but I onestly feel like only the upper part is getting bigger...what can I do? what can I pewrform? can I add some weights for the lower part? I work out at home...thanks for any advices...
 
Maybe your lower abdominals have more access to phosphate stores so you wouldn't feel the burn from the accumilation of lactic acid due to anaerobic glycolysis in them. ;)

Haha..word...

Once you reduce fat, get your cardio in line...also try different exercises, change up your routine just like you would with weights
 
thanks for the advices...actually it is not a bf issue...I think is more about lower part ipertrophy...the lower part does not bulk...any good exercises?

does weights help?
 
So u reckon it is a bf issue even though I am pretty skinny....but How about ipertrophy in the lower part(I know it is one muscle, no lower no upper,but it really seems that upper more bulked, lower less)? should I concetrate more on bulkin a bit before and only then on my abs...?? ...it is almost summer time..crap!

anyhow...does anyone know any good exercises that interest the "lower" part more directly and that could be performed at home, apart from reverse crunches(while I m doin them I feel most my upper abs...)? Are weghts useful in order to gain a bit of ipertrophy?
 
Do you mean hypertophy? Bulking and then concentrating solely on abs wont get you anywhere, except bulked. You need to work your whole body to have a chance at reducing your bf %. Some good exercises are V ups and planks.

There's acturally only one muscle there, despite what it looks like so the idea that you're working only the upper part and nothing is happening to the lower is simply not possible

EDIT and what's this obsession with abs everyone has?!? It's not like girls go around looking at guys stomachs, if anything girls go for broad shoulders and a nice chest.

Come to think of it a nice smile and a bit of confidence will get you way further than anything, no matter how impressive, below the neck line
 
Skinny does NOT mean low bf%. If you can already see the top abs..

Do 5 sets to failure, around 12 reps max, every other day. (Regular sit ups, or whatever you think works, but it must be weighted)
And watch what you eat.
