Healthy & Happy Diary

:) Hi, So yesterday I started my "new" diet!! AGAIN!!! I found this forum and hope it helps. I do have a lot of motivation right now so that should aslo hlep.

I have been gradually putting on the weight for the last 6 years. Found out I had Thyroid problems but the medication doesn't help. I do exercie a fair amount and I enjoy it so that is not an issue. BUT truthfully, I love food. Esp. rich food. I have a hard time having "just one"! Currently I am 53 and weigh in at 192. I have NEVER seen THAT number before and all my clothes, even my BIG clothes don't fit. I am hoping to get to 143 pounds, so I have a 50# loss to deal with here. My program is...........eat less, move more. I am going to try for 1200 cals/daily and to exercise at least 5 days a week. Add to that, 3 times a week with weights. I usually only do upper body but I think I may add some leg work. Currently I am doing a lot of biking, rollarblading, kayaking and walking. I like them all. When the snow flys, I will be cross country sking almost daily. You would think with all this exercising I'd be really fit and I quess I do have good health but I am tired a lot and I think it's the extra weight and the thyroid. So this is my first post. Will be posting as much as possible. :newbie:

Hello to myself and all............:)

Today I feel really great. I realize that 2# is not a big deal... but to me, it's a step in the right direction and already, (am I crazy?) I feel less bloating. I am on my way to a rollarblading session and this afternoon I will be kayaking with a buddy! IN the meantime, I am loving the fresh food diet I am now for the present. So far, so good but I know that time can wear away the motivation. That's why I think this diary is so great. If I am the only one reading it, that's cool too. Because it does what it is intended to do and that is, put your thoughts and desires onto a print form. Okay, the day is half way done and I have lots of fun things to do. Catch up later!!!:jump:

good day

I did my exercising and have had a great day eating however...............it's that night time thing just now where I really want something and I don't mean a piece of fruit or a piece of celery. My husband and son are going out to pick up a few burgers because it's too hot to cook. I asked them to PLEASE eat it before they get home. This is too vunerable a time for me! Anyone have a good idea for a snack that is not starchy?? Even popcorn is not an option right now. perhaps a few raw cashews? I'm just talking to myself. I hope I don't have to post tomorrow and admit to eating anything bad.......cus I will..........post that is.:jump:

Why is night time so tough? I did great today as well. That is until I got home. Dinner wasn't terrible, Turkey sandwich and veggie chips, but then I had 6 Hershey kisses.

I like your diary...

I'm sorry nobody has...

Hey you,

Best wishes.. Welcome.
This is a really awesome forum, filled with great people. They are all in the same boat as I am. We need to take the flab off and most of us need to get healthier ...
I hope you find warm welcomes...
I will swing by your diary .. I know how it feels when people don't write.. usually it takes quite a few days for people to really start writing ...

so don't lose heart ...and play around here a little ... I see you have a ticker... I sometimes play around and change my ticker when I feel like it ..all depends .. I just can never truly pick witch ticker to go with ..

I hope you enjoy your time here and ..well ..Welcome!

Well, my snack consisted of an apple sliced up and a TABL of low sugar peanut butter. Okay but not as good as 6 hersey kisses!!! Probably lots more cals too. I think those kisses are pretty good (cal wise)if you need a chocolate hit.

Anyhoo, I am amassed at how I got thru last night except I went to bed by 9pm. Pathetic I suppose but now I am up early and will exercise before it gets too hot so maybe thats not so bad.

We are going to our camp today, no internet, but a lake to swim in and trails to walk so I will not post again until Friday. I hope that I come back with good news.

Yes Natalie, Flab is just a good thing to get rid of...........and thanks for posting. I am using this diary for support but also to just get my thoughts down and have a place to stay focused, You know? I will check out your diaries too.:rotflmao: I am way into the tickers. It appeals to me for some reason I can't quite fathom. Of course, my favorite thing to do is change the humbers. Ha Ha,,,,,,,,,,,Have a great, STRONG day everyone.:hug2:

wow, that sounds like the life. Hiking and swimming to fill your days! How great would that be. I'm in Texas where it is supposed to HOT, but instead I can't remember the last day it didn't rain. I want to go to the pool so badly, but i am forced to do my exercising indoors. Enjoy your camp!

Hey..we were getting rainy days ...now the heat has come running into NEW ENGLAND and I am just dying for some decent air. Don't have an air conditioner .. I love rainy days ... our rainy days ..consist of rain later in the evening ...so I go out before it rains ..when the wind has picked up and it is cooler ... I walk, bike ...swim ..and than I hear a little thunder and come inside ...but I usually make sure to get that walk in ..but today is hot and sweltering .. so I think I am waiting till dark is coming to go out and get a walk in ..

ttylater guys
hope everything is going well at your camp hun!
Talk to you on Friday

Hi Kbingel. Welcome to the forum. Good luck on your weight loss.

You are very active and doing some activities I haven't made time for in a long while. That night time snacking is hard. I now just leave fresh fruit and veg on the kitchen counter a grab them when I feel the need, at least it is less calories than some old habits.

I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Howdy folks,

Camp was great. It was cool yesterday so I finally got some gardening done!!!! I hiked 4 miles on Thursday and today I hiked 3.5 miles and swan for about a half hour in the lake. I use those hand wings to get a better arm/shoulder work out in the water. Anyhoo.............as usual, the work outs were good BUT.........I had 3 mojitos made with sugar. And I have to say, 3 is TOO many!!!!! They kinda sneak up on you. Good thing I was in the woods and only had to crawl into bed after that. Then yesterday, I actully ate a pot pie after dinner. WHAT WAS THAT?????? well, 410 calories is what is was! Oh well, at least with dieting, I didn't eat 2000 k's and then eat a pot pie. So, I don't have a scale at the cabin so I won't know if I held my own, lost a pound or, gulp, put one on.

How about you all? It is hard to exercise when it is hot out like Texas. I go to my mom's in AZ and have to get up by 5:30 to go hiking there. Whew, hot! Tomorrow I go to Chicago for 4 days to visit with my 2 oldest children. They are 22 and 25. It will be big fun and I hope I can learn how to go to a restaurnat and get good food without eating the whole bread bowl! Ha Ha I will check in there as my son does have internet. I'll let you know how it goes. I will be checking in your diaries too. So, Who is on the 2# challange for July? Katy is I know. Anyone else? See youse...:boxing:

I was on the Fall of for Fall challenge and Am now heading into July ..
there is a July challenge? I will have to look that one up ...

well hope you are having a blast ..
sounds like it
I go to the lake tomorrow and get to swim my tookus off ... :)
later

Howdy............I am in Chicago eating myself into a frenzy!!!! Costa Rican food, thai =food, Indian food,,,,,,,,,,designer beers,;;;;;;;;;; Glad I don't live here.:)

Monday, July 2nd. I am suppose to weigh in today for the July challange but my son doesn't have a scale here in Chicago. I will have to wait until Wednesday when I get home. It will be a hard weigh in after the amount of food we are eating here. Oh well, I just keep telling myself, it's a vacation and will be over in 2 more days. I am trying to walk alot at least. yesterday we walked at least 5 miles. I do think that the food we are eating IS healthy however. Not really eating junk!

Yesterday, 7/1/07 in Chicago!!!

2 poached eggs
corn beef hash
red potatoes
aged swiss cheese
carrot/apple juice

lamp samosa
lamp vindaloo
rice
pann bread
spinich something

1 wine
1 beer

Could be worse I quess!

Today we are going to a fisheries that is suppose to have kick ass shrimp! Tomorrow Chicago dogs and then,,,,,,home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks GOD!

Hows Chicago?.

Enjoy them Chicago dogs its good to remember to enjoy 'the bad foods' every now and again
well hope the weigh in goes ok fingers crossed!

Sarah

I am green with envy! I want to go to Chicago..... Maybe your son could use a second mom! I hope you made it Wrigley. We are HUGE Cub fans at my house. I've never been to Chicago, but hopefully next summer! Make sure you make a list of all the great places to eat.

On my drive back from Chicago, I noticed my ancles looked like stuffed sausages. Of course, it was the last "hurrah" so I ate:

left over pizza, 2 pieces
chicago dog with F.F.s
mud pie, split with daughter

cheesburger and vanilla malt
1 beer

I got on the scale and I have gained 6 pounds in 4 days. Oh lord have mercy!!! I'm not even going to accept it yet. I am going to eat nothing but salads and fruit/vegtable juices today to clean out and give my system a break and see what the ol scales says tomoorow. Of course, I have gained but I'm hoping some of it is water??????????? Am I dreaming? We'll see. I almost feel like crying,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Some of that is most definitely water. There is a lot of sodium in the foods that you ate. Don't worry about it too much, just get back on track and keep moving forward towards your goals. Remember it's not a diet, it's a life style. Life sometimes includes trips to Chicago and eating some food that's not "on plan" The key is getting back to healthy eating and keep on trying.
