Every year I take two trips. The first one is to Seattle, Washington in April for Sakuracon, the biggest anime convention in the Northwest. Someday, I'd love to be able to cosplay (costume play, aka dress up) as an anime/gaming character, without having fat bulging out of my costume!

The second trip is to Japan. I go with a group called OIA, the Oregon Intercultural Association. Every summer, OIA takes a group of teenagers to Japan for a 3 week homestay. We each stay with a family in the Gifu Prefecture (Ogaki City, Mizuho City, or Hashima City) for one week, and then another family in the Kumamoto Prefecture (Kumamoto City) for another week. Then we spend 2-4 days in Tokyo in a Hostile on or own.

Japanese people are crazy skinny, and although they expect Americans to be fat, I'd love to go there for the 4th time this year and show that not all Americans are fat, and that we can be asian-skinny, too! I always felt really happy in Japan because my host families were so devoted and kind, but I still felt... well, giant.

I've been going since I was 17 years old. When I was 17, I weighed 186 lbs when I went to Japan. Just by eating what they fed me (which was a lot of food, I tell you) and walking around to tour spots I lost 8 lbs. When I went to Japan the next year, at 18, I was at 173 lbs. When I returned from Japan I hadn't lost any weight at all, and I was insanely jealous that my girlfriend had lost 14lbs!

The next year, at 19, I went to Japan at 165 and came back at 160. Now I fluctuate between 158-163, so I've set my weight at 160lbs even. At least, that's what it seems to be most consistently when I weigh in in the mornings.

This year, I'd like to go to Japan at 130. It's not quite my goal weight of 160, but since we're leaving on June 14th, I only have 15 weeks. I figure 2lbs a week with a good dedicated effort on my end is absolutely reasonable.

This last Japan visit I stayed with the Ogura family in Mizuho City for 1 week. I made the best friends I've ever made! Taeko-san is a private tutor, and she spoke amazing English (which meant I didn't practice my Japanese as much... but oh well). She had a 20 year old daughter, Mai-san, who has amazing skin and is absolutely stunning, and a 15-year-old daughter Yui-chan. Yui and I made the best of friends and stayed up every night (to her mother's dismay) until about 3AM just bullshitting. It was the best!

She talked about coming to see me, which I was happy about, but I figured she was just being optimistic and happy and it wouldn't really happen. Well, in July of 2008 she came to my house for just over a month. It was so much fun. I got that poor girl so wasted...

So this year, I can't wait to go back to Japan and have her be surprised at how skinny I got! Yui-chan, this is for you!!! x3

Good for you Kat
Welcome
Nice and really cool people on here. They will help keep you on track!
So are you exercising yet?
Oh yeah I liked the link you left on my thread. Cute.

Best wishes on you in that skinny peek-a chew costume (ha I am showing my ignorance to the world of anime by naming like the only japanese animated character I know)
