I go and hurt my ankle, believe it or not it wasnt through exercise though, It was at work which makes it even more upsetting as I have managed to get a good healthy balance of food, exercise cardio/strength training and everything that comes along with healthy lifestyle changes.

Ive lost over 40lbs so far and feeling great :D So I really just want to know what exercises I can do now?
I mean is there a substitute for the jumpy sorts of cardio? I like to feel my heart race as odd as it may sound :)
I dont own an exercise bike and everything I have been doing involves a lot of jumping or farely high impact.
So is there anything else I can put in place?

I have been advised to rest but surely I cant just stop exercising altogether?(I dont want to put weight back on :( ) and I dont know how long my ankle is going to take to heal.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance guys :)

Swimming's a great low impact exercise if you can do it (or versions of aquarobics). I'd advise talking to a doctor if you can and talking to them about it- they may be able to accelerate your healing process or tell you ways you can exercise with the ankle (strapped up, for example). Another way to prevent yourself putting the weight back on is temporarily reducing your calorie count (if you can manage it).

But some exercise is better than none. Can you go for walks? I wouldn't go fast enough to get your heart jumping on that ankle, but some gentle stuff wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for the reply.

I can't really walk comfortably, just slight pressure on my ankle is all I can bare.
I can manage floor work like sit ups and anything that doesnt involve standing for to long.
I've managed to get hold of an exercise bike(still waiting for it to arrive) hopefully the pressure of that will be ok.

I am going to the Doctors again next week so I will ask about ways to speed up the healing process also about ankle support etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, swimmings not something I'd considered before, mainly because I do all my exercises at home So if the bike fails then I think that may be my next option.
If I can manage on the bike for now then I can continue as I did before the ankle injury(minus the high impact jumping of course :D)
