Just the beginning! My before pics!

So this is it, just the beginning! I am 5'5 and I currently weigh 165. I am hoping to be down to 135 by the end of the summer. Give me any tips on specific exercises for my trouble spots (tummy and arms). Thanks for the encouragment!
 
We're about at the same height and weight right now, though I carry all of my weight in my ass and thighs. I don't have any specific clues as to what to do as I am trying to do the same thing as you (though for flexibility and toning I have been using a Winsor Pilates dvd that has been quite good). Good luck and keep up the good work!
 
Yea I pretty much carry all mine in my tummy and to a lesser extent my thighs...what is your goal weight, and when are you trying to reach it???
 
You dont have that much weight to lose so as long as you eat right and stick to an exercise plan than you should be able to hit 135 by the end of summer no problem. If you lose 2lbs a week you will be done early.My goal is also 135 but I am 190 so its going to take a while lol. I was 238 though. I had to start somewhere. Good Luck on your weightloss journey.
 
If you are just starting after a time of being sedentary, try to do 20 to 30 minutes of aerobic excercise at a low intensity heart rate zone at least 3 or 4 times a week. If you feel like doing more, go for it but don't get too carried away the first couple weeks. As you feel better you can increase the intensity and duration. I am a big fan of the book Body For Life by Bill Phillips because it covers the essentials of losing fat and gaining muscle through healthy and simplified eating as well as aerobic and resistance exercise. You need ALL 3 to be at your best and stay at your best. Research, read, ask questions here or at the gym and just keep learning.

As for specific excercises, I didn't even worry about that until recently. I'm down to about 15% body fat and I'm trying to get to 10%. I like the way I look everywhere except I still have a slight spare tire. I have been increasing the amount of core excercises I do each week. However, it still comes down to burning off the fat that is there. If the fat was gone I wouldn't be concerned about my mid section because it would be just fine. I hope that makes sense.

:waving: Hi there! We are the same height, but you look a LOT younger than I am.

For toning up your belly/abs, I heartily recommend buying a stability/yoga ball! They are cheap but man, do they work!

Eat right (Low fat and carbs Low sodium) (Always eat at least 4 SMALL meals a day) and exercise. If you do these then it will be a success. Good Luck !

omg i think u and me r about the same..i'm at 177 now 5'5 want to be bout 135-140 by mid/late summer all my weight is in my belly i have no butt...my legs r like man legs all muscle(huge calves) except inner thigh neways i just want my belly gone and to gain some booty in the process maybe...lol:seeya:
