Just started exercising but what am I doing wrong?

Hello! I'm new and I will probably post an into after this- I was going to do my lifestyle change on my own but I realized there are a lot of things that I don't know and who doesn't benefit from extra support anyway? :)
A little over a week ago I started drinking water, I try to drink 8-10 glasses a day and at first it was hard but now I actually get thirsty for it. A few days after that I decided to start eating better too and that is easier now too it feels like after drinking water my sense of taste is different and healthier food has a lot more flavor. I was encouraged by this and decided to really make this a complete change and ordered a beginner fitness dvd. I started it last night and it was fun but after 3/4 of it (only like 20 minutes I think) I started feeling really nauseated and weak in the knees and I had to turn it off :( I was so disappointed in myself but I keep saying one step at a time and if I hurt myself that would be even longer time of not doing anything.
I really wanted to be able to do exercising in the mornings between 9 and 10:30 but I want to do it safely. When I started last night it was 3-4 hours after I ate dinner which was omelet with 1 egg and 2 egg whites, spinach and veggies. The rest of the day I eat oatmeal with blueberries or cranraisins and walnuts, salads with tomato and shrimp or tuna or chicken, yogurt, apples. If I really want a piece of toast I'll throw that in or a cup of coffee with creamer, I'm not denying atm I just like eating these things they are yummy. I always liked veggies but this is a totally different level for me, I'm usually a sugar and cereal junkie but now I am getting through whole day on 7 hours of sleep and not feeling like I need a nap.

Anyway I'm sorry this is like a book, but what am I doing wrong? Do I need to eat a certain time before/after I exercise or eat more in general if I am going to add exercising in? Would an energy bar or something like that work, I don't want to give up my oatmeal but that would be something I could eat while getting my kid to school and then come home and be able to workout.

I don't think you're doing anythign wrong, but I think you might be expecting too much. :)

If you're not used to working out, you may just have overdone it. Even beginner workouts can be tough if you're not accustomed to regular exercise. Just take it slow and build up to it.
