Just need some solid advice

I've been researching weight loss and fitness for a while, but have really gotten more involved in it in the past few weeks. In fact, it seems I've spent more time on the computer than at the gym. I've been finding a LOT of contradicting information and no real, solid suggestions to trim some unwanted fat. I'm pretty young so I was really loving the "I can eat anything I want and burn it off just like that" thing, but sadly, it really caught up to me. I'm pretty active; I swim and play tennis (both varsity) for my school but I'm not as fit as I should be. At 5' 5" and 145 pounds, I don't look my best. If anyone has some advice for building a nutrition and excercise plan, it would be greatly appreciated! :)

I think the best way is to count calories based on your bmr.
I believe eating balanced is important, don't cut out certain food groups, just eat in moderation.
The best way to lose unwanted fat is diet and exercise, I suggest doing both cardio and lifting weights.
Anyone can lose weight this way, there are no gimmicks, no special products, just fat to loose.
