Just getting started! Walking on Lunch..

I am just starting out today in my 1st ever (yes, first ever) effort to lose weight. I stepped onto a scale the other day, un-intentionally, and probably for the first time in years and saw "303" staring back at me. I almost couldn't believe it.

So - I am going to begin taking a good 30 minute walk on my lunch breaks at work, cut out most of my coffee intake (usually 3 cups with cream/sugar a day), and begin drinking more water.

Other than the obvious (watching out for really fatty foods) - Any advice for the new guy that really new at this sort of thing? Thanks!

Check your other thread and you definitely want to get yourself a diary rather than start a new thread with each new thought... it's easier to keep track of your progress that way

give yourself one day a week where you can eat anything you want. only do this if you follow your original plan where you don't have as much coffee and cut out the really fatty foods. good luck!

Cheat days are fine once in a while, but you don't want to broaden it to anything you want.. a person really wants to do a lifestyle change - and that does involve changing some former habits... Food doesn't have to be deep fried and smothered in cheese to taste good, good food doesn't have to be steamed and devoid of all flavor... Moderation is essential as is learning proper nutrition...

and from my cold dead hand you will take my coffee and I take it with a l ittle bit of cream on some days -no sugar - but there's no reason why you can't make cream and sugar in your coffee work for your day.

Why really fatty foods?

And why coffee?
