I have had issues with my knees with tendinitis. This mostly happens when I'm running. This is also worsened by my knees in general: my patella doesn't track correctly and when I run my knee caps will shift off track. I'm a thrower on the track and field team and this sometimes bothers me when I throw if I land in the throw and my patella decides to shift and causes a sharp pain. I have a stretching regime I'm doing right now to get my hamstrings more flexible to prevent added pulls on my knees. I also ice after each practice.
I know jumping rope is hard on the knees, but as strange as these seems it doesn't seem to bother me. I think it's because I'm not moving in other directions such as in running or even on the elliptical so my patellas don't have the chance to shift. Does it sound like jumping rope is harmful on my knees or do you think I could continue to do so? It's my favorite form of cardio and I don't feel this shifting in my knees as in running and even cycling.
