Jumping on the band wagon (again)

Hi Everyone,
My story goes like this-
Always been a bit on the heavy side. Even in high school. Of course I would give anything to weigh what I weighed my senior year! And to think I thought I was over-weight then. :)P
Anywho, up until May of this year (2007) I was doing a job at work that was very labor intensive, eating what I wanted and not gaining weight. Since May and a new position at thee ol work place (My shoulders could no longer take all the lifting of 50 pound boxes) I have gained 30 pounds.
Sad I know. I just kept on eating like before and quit "working out".
The really sad thing is that I have an elliptical in my home (since January) and I have only been on it 2-3 times. Once I was eating a danish while I tried it out. Ridiculous I know.
Sooo this is the deal. I just tried on all my jeans that fit before May and of course they no longer fit. I am determined to lose that 30 pounds and then some. The thirty hopefully before cold weather sets in and the rest over time.
My biggest problem is not changing my diet it is being motivated to keep at it. So I need a buddy someone who needs to be prodded every once and a while and who wouldn't mind prodding me in return.
Any takers?
Thanks for reading. I am looking forward to all the inspiration that I can get from this site.

I know what you mean about the physical labor work. Five years ago, I worked in a warehouse and could eat anything. I soon as I got a office job, as you can see, alot of weight came on.

The good thing is that you found this site. There is a ton of information and support.

Best Wishes,

Carrie

Hi Bellaryna,
Welcome to WLF! It's awesome that you decided to come here looking for support on changing your life. I came about a week ago and it's the second best thing I've ever done... first of course being committing to changing all my old habits.

It sounds like you have the driving force that it takes to lose this weight and that's great!! If you have it in your mind and you work hard you can surely lose those pounds no problem.

There's a ton of helpful people here who are super knowledgeable that are willing to answer any questions you may have. Don't be afraid to ask questions, we're all here for the same reason. :]

You should head on over to the diary section and start one up. It lets others stop by your own little place to see how you're doing and to see your progress.

Anyway, good luck on your journey and enjoy this place, it's awesome!

Thanks for the encouragement!
I am already struggling a bit. I will head over to the diary section and start one up. I think that may be one of the few things right now that will keep me motivated.

awww don't worry about the struggling, I had a hard time in the beginning too. Once you get into it and see how much better your body feels and how good you feel about your accomplishments it'll be so much easier! I'm not saying that everyday is going to be a cake walk, cause it's not but it gets easier as time goes on but everyone has those days that test us. Once you get your diary up and running Imma stop by! :]

xoxo

Of course!
Buddies are always good. Everyone needs a kick in the booty sometimes (I know there's days I need it!). :]

Hi great that you are here for support. I love to come to this site when I need some motivation. This has been a rough 6 months for me. I was 232 and I would gain and lose the same 5 pounds for 6 months 227-232. It was so frustrating. I was eating right, recording everything and going to the gym 3-5 days a week. The year prior I was 250. I went from 250 to 232 just by cutting out sugar drinks like pop and cofees with lots of carbs and not eating so many sweet and stuff not good for you. Then I just stopped and even though I was doing everything right I still didn't lose. Well just in the last two weeks I suddenly lost 10 pounds. That was a shocker. I had to look back at what I did and the changes I had made. Well I hadn't been to the gym in a week so that was weird but in the last month I started eating lots of fruit, fish, brown rice and veggies. Way more the I ever had. I heard from someone else that they did that and it worked and low and behold it worked for me and 10 pounds gone. I am so happy. In fact it motivates me to make good food choices. I have been walking as much as I can too since I can't get to the gym this week. So what I am getting at is look at the food choices you are making and see what you can change. After you change them you will or should see results. After you see the results hopefully that will motivate you to keep up with the changes. For example, I hadn't had a soda pop in over a month and I had a diet one the other day and even that was way too sweet and I didn't even enjoy it. I find myself opting for water more and more. Keep up the good work and just be determined and you will get to your goal. Just remember some goals take longer than others so don't give up.

Thanks for the encouragement Carrie.
I was an orderfiller for about 2 1/2 years. I lost alotta fat when I started the job but never really lost weight. Guess I was gaining alot of muscle. I did eventually get down to 194. But then I blew out my shoulder  and it just wasn't worth the pain to keep doing that job. So I switched to a position that has no physical labor what so ever and *poof* 30 pounds!!!!!!! in 3 months.
I am loving the site all ready and will definately be hanging around. I started a diary so you can keep tabs there and give me the proverbial kick in the pants when I need it. :jump:

Wait a second, wait a second, my bum is smaller now, there is room for you!! haha

All jokes aside, if you need any advice or help, this is a great place to get it. You can find insparation and motivation here. The 2 things that are getting me through this.
