Jumping Higher

First off, I want to say hello to everyone on these forums as I'm new here.

Okay, I'm six foot even and 205 pounds and I can grab rim but I can't dunk. Do you guys have any tips to jump higher and is it possible for me to dunk by summer?

Lots of squats and calf excersises help, but the things like power clean (think thats what its called) and other explosive lift actions like that help the most for it. I also want to dunk by summer, but I still have a knee injury:( I should be able to dunk though, being a long 6'4 170lb.

Also man just remember to jump, whether its in a pickup game or just after you work out. I play basketball and run track. 6'3...............

Just make sure to jump hard whenever you do anything, it helps sooo much man.

Also if I am correct, I think that abs also help for jumping, my friend who has a huge vertical told me this, so naturally I believe him.

Just jump, look online for plyometrics(it might be pylometrics, im not sure on the spelling) and find some excersises to do, and progressively do more and more. Do the excersises ever other day, and on your days off play actual basketball so your muscles get the muscle memory of jumping the way basketball uses your muscles.

Hey thanks everyone. For jumping technique, you get down into a quarter squat position and explode up right? It's nowhere near a full squat right?

For jumping, I assume Quads and calves are definately the things to work. The bigger they are the more upward force you can place. But If your dunking dont forget to get some chest stretching exercises done as you also stretch upwards when you jump. Also Dont forget to try and also improve the form of ur jump, sounds stupid but some people jump off thier heels. While I dont, I crounch down tipped toed and jump off my toes cos i find I get more leverage.
