Jumping back into it after a year and a half

Hello all! I'm new here and I thought I'd post here to keep my motivation up. I'm in the process of trying to lose weight and get back into being fit again. I've been back at it for about three weeks now, right now I'm 6'0" 230lbs, and my target is somewhere around 190-200. I used to be pretty fit 3-4 years ago; I was a wrestler and I was doing MMA training as well. About a year and a half ago when I stopped training, I was about 210lbs with a 15% bf ratio.

I'm trying to get back to a high level of fitness; I'd actually like to do MMA again and get my old body back. I have a few questions as for calories I should be aiming for to lose; I have a fairly good amount of base muscle on me, so I'm guessing I'd probably need more calories than the average person. Would 1,500 calories a day on average be dangerous for someone like me? I'd like to maintain the muscle I do have and regain my former level of strength, but I also want to lose weight and get into cardio/running shape. Right now I'm aiming for an average of 15-20 miles a week alongside my workout that involves a lot of olympic lifts alongside of traditional bodybuilding lifts. Is it an oxymoron to try to lose weight, get strength back, and get into good cardiac shape? Is it possible? It seems the last three weeks I've been making fairly good progress thus far; I was 240 lbs and now I'm 230 and I'm noticing my lifts and runs are getting much better.

Awelcome to the forum, do you know what your bf% is at the moment ? as it would help when working out if your eating to few cals which would be my first impression. Depending on how long it has been since you lifted you may be getting newbie gains in strength after the long break.

Hmm, I'm not sure what my bf% is now, but if I were to make a broad guess I would say around 25-30%. I can still see some muscle definition; most of the fat on me is around the midsection. I was lifting for about 5 years prior to the break, and it's been a year and a half since I've stopped. It looks like I retained a lot of it; I can still see a lot of the muscle development I had. I'm actually pretty happy with how my shoulders and back are looking already; I'm not sure if it is because I've already lost a bit of weight, but they seem bigger. It almost hides the fact that I'm a bit chubby. Almost, haha!
