So, after several (and I do mean several) "diets" and attempted lifestyle changes I can finally say I am almost ready!

Sigh i'm ready to get sexy dammit :)!

I've got the gym membership, the plans, more information than I will possibly ever use, now - all that's lacking is my motivation (ugh - dead end, close the book! it's over)

I've always had this love-love relationship with food, It's my "thing", I love eating! I eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm mad, I eat when I'm full, and I eat when I'm bored! & I don't exercise - and that is why I am fat!!

I am 5'6 and a respectful 250lbs! I'm ready to kick the habit of leaning on food for "emotional" support - maybe I can lean on you guys instead? :)

I plan on journaling here - I probably won't answer too many questions because I am not any kind of weight loss guru (OBVIOUSLY!)

Anyway, I get discouraged easily - I know I shouldn't... but it happens. My most recent attempted lifestyle change - I was eating healthy 5-6 meals a day (hard boiled eggs, turkey bacon, cottage cheese, fruits, chicken breasts, veggies galore, brown rice), and I'd spend 2 hours at the gym 5 days a week only to weigh myself and see the scale went UP 5 pounds!!!!!

I cried - and then I quit :(

I plan on getting all of my measurements and "starting" weight picture Sunday and then Monday I'll begin on my journey once again....

just wanted to leave a quick little introduction and hopefully make a few friends on here! I could use a weight loss buddy!

:seeya:

Heyas, welcome!

Yea, eating less when its become such a crutch and a habit is tough. Its a weekly struggle. Some weeks I wonder how I ever was able to eat like I did. Others, I don't know how I'm ever not.

It gets easier. I'd say the first 2 days are the toughest. My previous diets never made it past that point.

As far as gaining the five pounds, that might not have been a good indication of how your weight loss was going. Scales are more or less evil. Eating healthier though does not equal weight-loss. You need to make sure you are in caloric deficit. Find a few BMR calculators and then find a relative number they seem to hover around. Counting calories sucks, but its extremely helpful.

Good luck.

Now that I've been thinking about it - I am pretty sure it was water weight, there is no way I could have gained weight from doing what I was doing, lol. It's just impossible!! I counted most of my calories and I ate really healthy stuff...

I just tend to get overly dramatic sometimes and I don't really have anyone to smack some sense into me so I just give up on the spot!

I'm gonna work on that haha. Thanks :)

Hey Manduh,
Welcome aboard you have found a great site for support.

Yes, the scale is not the best measure. There are way to many variables. Taking your measurements is great start. Also trust and beleive that if you stay in a calorie deficit and exercise you will lose wieght. Weightloss can mostly be broken down to calories in vs calories out.

Make sure you have a plan you can stick to long term because this isnt something you win or finish. Develop good habits during your new lifestyle. Get in some exercise when you can and you will be fine.

Dont get frustated, stay focused and you can do this.

Matt

PS. thank you for the agreement on the gimme gimmes. Not many people have heard of them.

Eeek, that's my problem - I love to eat way too much!!! I'm just gonna have to suck it up and eat celery and pretend it's a big mac :drool5:
