Hi all! New here on this forum, spent 5 minutes tryin to figure out how to start a thread lol. Hope to get some support here too so that this lifestyle continues beyond weighloss!

Im tryin to keep to my promise this year of a healthier me. Im currently 5"2 , 60 pounds overweight and hope to lower it before end December.

I have started eating healthy 2 days ago and currently on my third day of sipping green tea haaha. It doesn't taste that bad afterall. But I hv yet to kick the ice-coffee habit. I drink at least 3 cups a day, sometimes even more if I have social dinners. Seldom drink plain water too, unless I can't get hold of a cuppa coffee.

Started eating fish and light stuff for a change from burgers and noodles. I have no idea those carbs are so bad to me. I have frends who eat those every meal and don't put on weight the way I do! I prob put on extra 10 pounds in just 2 weeks cos I was eating those stuff every day at every meal.

Todays Tracking
1 cup protein shake
Fish & celery salad
2 Guava (fruit) with plum powder (will try to eat without the sweet plum powder next time)
Chicken salad
2 Ice coffee
one slice bacon (shucks.)

Tomorrow will be first day back at gym after 5 mths. Hope to get my butt off bed before 630am!

Will update again tonite on the meals. Cyall!

Mmm ice coffee. Iced coffee can be calorie free? What do you usually drink it with?

Great start so far :) Go yooou.

Good work so far! I can not stand green tea, always wanted to add it in, but I just can't.....nor fish though (yuk) so you are doing awesome in my eyes. Keep it up! Clean eating and adding in the gym - I am certain you will see the weight start coming off!

Good luck! I'm glad I'm not the only one starting a thread here today!

Personally I love Green Tea, it tastes like wood, all natury... makes me feel all natural. I also love fruit tea (I'm on cranberry and orange at the moment)... if only they counted towards the whole 5 a day thing! lol.

I have to ask though, what is Guava?

i drink it with milk lol.... the only milk that i drink goes into coffee. other than that i don't drink milk at all. is that ok? or bad?

eh... ok not sure how this thread works.... how do i reply several posts at one go?

NeedToLose30, i eat the fish is with some veg without cabbage or lettuce. and I make it into a tom yum soup so its more edible. im tryin to cut down on chicken cos i can go overboard by eating a whole chicken by myself! yikes.

Paladin-Cleric , Guava is a tropical fruit... not sure the seasons but its kinda hard like apple and green on the outside.

sorry im just so new to this, posting replies will be a abit of challenge.

Thank you for dropping by. makes the journey less lonely! appreciate your time! :)

Workout for 15 min at 30:30 interval on treadmill.

Meals
2 ice coffee, 1 litre green tea.
Chicken wing, Fish soup
Apple
3 bags of sweets (colleague is so evil.. I'm screwed today)
Dinner - grilled chicken, 3 chicken balls x3 skewers, pork skewer, 4 cups coffee, w little milk . urgh my frend wanted to throw a jug of it away cos it wasn't "potent" enuf so I decided to save the poor coffee!!!!! Dumb of me I know. :(

Hi Jubilee & welcome to the forum. I don't like green tea either much, but do now really like Peppermint tea . It's very refreshing. At night I have a lemon & ginger tea. I like to mix up my herbal teas in a pot. When you have an iced coffee what milk do you have in it? If you drink ready-made iced coffees they are usually loaded with sugar and/or high fat. Water, with a little lemon juice in it is nice. I have never heard of plum powder. Don't worry at all about how you reply to any comments. There are no rules really. We are a friendly bunch & we have so much in common. Use your diary as your own personal space. We'll come visit you there xo Cate

Milk is fine, in moderation.
Your food consumption is tiny, judging by yesterday's menu so I'm pretty sure a couple of iced coffees a day won't hurt your weight loss.

I feel bad being so addicted to coffee. I drank like 7 cups today!!!
First thing to do... get some lemons n start on the lemon water tip that Cate shared. And then prepare a big jug of on my desk so I wun forget to down it in today.

I bought a pack of quinoa cos I'm startin to miss eatin rice n noodles n burgers. Hope the texture will help alleviate the cravings for the unheathy starchy stuff . Anyone knw wat kind of seasoning I shd use with quinoa?

Quinoa oh quinoa... wat should i say....

You taste so weird. :ack2:

I think I'm averaging 1500 a day now. And the biggest meal usually is dinner. Sometimes I get stm and can't remember wat I ate. And prob end up eatin more than necessary. I have been to the gym everyday since Tuesday and doin intervals on treadmill.

Oh I forgot to write my starting weight in the midst of the excitement of joining this forum. I started at 176.4. I want to reach 110-115 in seven months. That's about cutting down 60lbs. The last time I was at that weight was probably when I was 8 years old. I uv always been bullied as a kid cos of my weight and it happens even in adulthood where a mgr just bluntly say "shouldn't you do something about your weight?" And showed favor to the slim ladies and hostile towards me. Needless to say I didn't stay long in that job.

Now I Have moved on to a company with a nice boss and I could use the office gym before work starts. Best part there's also a pool within the complex so I'm looking forward to swim when I hit the low 130s. With such facilities there's no excuses not to embark on a healthy lifestyle no matter how bad it gets. It's goin to be more of a mind battle and I'm goin to protect my health and my family no matter how tough it goes!

Biggest meal since Tuesday was a chinese hotpot with pork, mushrooms, spam, bean sprouts and meatballs. It was red hot spicy & oily. & delicious. But now it's payback time as my tummy is actin up w the insane spice churning thru the intestines.

I hope this gets better in the morning as I plan to check on a gym that's around town. so I could pop in for mini workouts before meetin friends for meals or shopping.

Discovered that addin ham to quinoa gives it a nicer taste. Will do that more often. Also I haven't touch bread rice or noodles this week. It's easier than I thought! Could feel my body less bloated and puffy....like seriously I could see my toes slightly now instead of my pouch when I look down?

Been lookin thru some workout videos and YouTube. Watched horrifying scenes in Fat Doctors and I basically scared myself into having to keep at this healthy lifestyle so I don't have to end up on the operating table. I think I will mark that video and re watch it whenever temptation strikes.

& Oh yes avengers movie here I come!!!

Welcome j. The key to success is consistency over time and finding exercise activities that you enjoy. I ride my bike 10 miles every morning (get up at 5:30) and I listen to my ipod while I ride. I really look forward to that time on my bike. Start slow and build up with whatever activities you're doing and you'll be surprised it doesn't take too long to build up strength and endurance. As for diet, lots of fresh vegetables, grilled or baked lean meats, and light on the breads and pastas. Track your calories every day and have a goal of total calories per day. Being consistent over time will yield results.

Thanks B! I bought celery and apples for the new week. Will watch my calories and see if I need to adjust some. My weigh ins on Tuesday's.

So I'm startin my first workout the gym in town. Not sure how its goin to be like. Heard the classes are popular so I will try that first. Today I decided to do hummus dip and clam chowder soup. I think I put in too much chickpeas... it tasted almost like peanut butter LOL. This is the first time I'm usin the blender that I bought a month ago. I cld twist on another top and do a protein or fruit smoothie. Way cool.

Did 2 rounds in the park and saw many cute dogs. Some can run even faster than me hahahaha. I aim to do a 5k within 30 min in a months time. Now I'm takin like 50min!!!

Hahah... i was looking at insanity and extreme makeover and then got curious when i saw Fat doctor at the side bar under recommendations.

Urgh, been burning my mobile data for all such videos now. i hope i don't go over the limit this month $$$$....

I found an interesting running programme that you can download to an iPhone or iPod touch. Zombies, Run! It's supposed to be a fun, interesting way to start running. I actually just bought a new iPod just to get it.

If you were looking for different ways to exercise that is. I never did quite get into shows like the ones you've mentioned, they freak me out too much. Lol.

Is that supposed to scare you into running faster? lol.... will see how i fare at the gym later.
i love watching those shows. its inspiring but yet really educational. & i was amazed how the surgeon did the tummy band while on camera and smiling! sooooo coooool.

i just did a huge batch of quinoa in the office microwave. so i can save time cooking the next few days at work.

Todays first weigh in after week one of eating healthy and working out 6 days:
21 Apr : 176.4 lbs
28 Apr: 170 lbs

Yay not too shabby. I realise with this new mindset and healthy eating, i seem more energised this week! My colleague is coming along to the gym tonight so its gonna be fun. Just looked at the classes and dismayed that we won't be able to rush down in time for it. And the one at 9pm is an advance class which we will not attempt to hurt ourself in lol.

Am so happy about the 6 pounds lost! oish!

Congrats!

Advanced exercise classes? OMG people actually do advanced exercise... all exercise is advanced to me... lol. Good luck!

Yea i know rite... i don't even think i can keep up with normal combat classes.

So it poured so heavily after work that i was half drenched and cold by the time i reached gym. Did some weights and running for an hour combined. The machine at the gym seems more efficient than the one at work. I had to press 8.0 for a decent jog at office gym but ytd i only did a 7.0 and i felt like a panting hamster!!!

Just downloaded a free PDF book titled The Daniel Plan: A jumpstart guide by Rick Warren. I realise that when my willpower fails, what holds me up is my faith. Cos I know I cannot rely just on my strength to pull through this time. I like the little verse or prayer that is included with each chapter. Today's verse is Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5.
