journey to fitness!

Hey all,

I have been lurking around these forums for a while and wanted to finally post! I am 27, a resident physician, and unfortunately pretty inactive because of my long hours. I have on and off lost my weight and been at a healthy weight. Unfortunately, I have gained about 10 pounds in the last several months. I am more interested in becoming fit and active than losing the actual weight. I haven't weighed myself because I know it's not what I want to see, so I will weigh myself sometime after I am on my path to getting fit again :).

So....I have had a membership at the local gym ever since I started my residency. I have barely used it. I am always "too tireD" or "don't want to waste the time" because I could be finishing up patient notes or doing some reading. There is ALWAYS an excuse. So I bought the 30 day shred (Jillian Michaels) yesterday. I did level one yesterday and today and I am actually quite sore. I figure since it only requires about 20-30 minutes of my time and doesn't require me to leave my place, I can start out with this. Plus....it is always so cold and snowing outside! Anyone try the shred? What were your results?

My only problem is I'm having a problem cutting down on my food intake. Hopefully as I continue to work out that will improve as well. I am a vegetarian so often times if I don't bring food to work, I have no healthy options (pizza, fried food, etc).

Anyway, I wanted to start a diary so I would be held accountable! Hopefully I will take a bit of time daily to post here and if I become daring enough I may even post my food intake :)

Thanks for reading :)

So I had bout an hour between my day and afternoon clinics today so I went home and did 2 circuits of the shred. I wont count hat as my workout or anything since it's only 2/3 of the segment, but it's bonus!!!! I am thinking about trying level two out this afternoon, but I still haven't graduated to "normal" pushups, so I figure i should stick to it. Anyone else do the shred and have experiences?!

Eating has been okay....unfortunately b/c of my time constraints I ate a frozen smart ones meal. I am hoping one day I can move away from this and make some time to make more nutritious foods!
