Hi everyone. I recently lost twenty pounds that I had gained, and am so proud of my recovery back to good health. Being healthy and fit and within the healthy body-mass index of my height (5'6'') makes me feel like myself again. I could not have done it without your support and look forward as we all journey together to higher planes of fitness and spiritual growth in other aspects of our lives as well. We've sustained each other through weddings, breakups, losses and new births. So let's get back to it! I started this new thread to focus on my Journey from 145 to 130. See you soon! Ash

Just finished Paws and Effect, Tell Me Where It Hurts, Elegance, Bergdorf Blondes, and some Jokes books.

Currently interested in the book called:
A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle a leading spiritual teacher who wants to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is essential to human happiness rather than suffering. Our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness. He shows us the path to a truly fulfilling existence.

Great Day

Played some softball and soccer in a loosely organized recreational way and it was with great friends and was a lot of fun.

Took some measurements today as well:

Thighs : 24 1/2 Really want to reduce here a lot
Waist: 29 1/2 Would like to be a 27
Hips: 38 (?Check)
Arms: 10 3/4 Don't need to reduce much maybe 9 1/2 would be good.

Curious to know other people's measurements so that I can aim for that, of fit people who are a size 4 or 6.

Thanks for reading,
Ash

Size 4's

From

1. My thighs were around 22.5" before i started weight loss, and I was wearing a size 6~8. Depending on the cut (and stretchability of the cloth), I'm a size 2~4 now, and my thighs are 19.5"... I think I moved into the size 4~6 range when my thighs were around 20-21". Hope this helps!

2.
I wear a size 4 and my thighs are 19".

I am acutally working to increase the size of mine - I feel like my thighs could use some more muscle tone

3. I'm a 4/6 and mine are 20". I tend to have skinny thighs though and wide hips. They were 22.5" at size 10.

4. I'm a size 1/2 depending on where I am shopping and have 19.5-20 in. thighs and a small frame.

How tall are you?

I think that plays a big part in it.. how tall are you and what is your frame size?

5. wear AE size 2, but last week when I went shopping for slacks, I got 3/4.

My thigh is 22inches. I think I could fit into AE size 0 but my hipbone is too large to fit into 0. And AE do seem to make them large for the sizes they are.

[edit] i thought i'd mention that i'm 5'4''

Size 6's say:
6. biking will totally help ur thighs shrink kumi. I did tons of biking for months while at the gym. I swear that works as well as walking. Congrats on ur size 5/6!

7. Biking will help alot,i used to have much bigger thighs when i started biking about a year ago ( 3-4 miles a day) and now I am up to 40 miles a day and my thighs are so much smaller as is the rest of me. Ive tryed running and other things but they never seemed to work as well

8. If you really want to slim down legs, running stairs is supposed to work really well.

From:

From Peertrainer . com : Thighs

I recently am fitting into a size 6 (down from a 12) and went from a 25" thigh to a 22" thigh. I've always had big thighs though - comes with being a soccer player and runner.

Ideal Measurements

For Small, Medium, and Large Frame:

5'6"
120-133
130-144
140-159

Ash Says:
My top is Small frame, my lower body is Medium Frame or possibly Small Frame but i carry so much weight on my butt and thighs it's hard to tell. Also have a lot of muscle tone in that area from skiing so its hard to tell.

This is interesting.

Anyhow, I now have a workout buddy. This is a friend that I've occasionally worked out with before - we'll call her "El". We've decided however that it's time to get serious and get slim by November. (Sept, Oct, Nov). Three months to get FIT !! :D

We are both a size 10 and want to be a size six.

She thinks she needs to lose ten pounds, because I'm shorter, I think I need to lose twenty.

We're going to dance the weight off our thighs and stomachs. We like doing dance workouts (see previous posts). The Body Slimming Yoga by DCC is a really good one. I thought it might be cheesy but its not - at all. It goes slowly and lets you learn at your own pace without being too easy as you progress.

I believe at 5'6'' and 125 I should be a size six. I don't want to be 135. It's not thin enough. !!

That said, I can't wait to be 135. Ha ha.

Life is good, spending time with friends.

Losing the Last 30 Pounds

I am curious about this so I looked up info about losing those last few pounds:
info is from: LINK REMOVED

1. You begin your thirty-pound path by avoiding processed food, without exception. The idea stems from the fact that reduced fat food usually substitutes the loss of fats with excess carbohydrates, which is more fattening and less valuable. So, let’s root out the problem at the start and avoid reduced or processed food altogether.

2. My second tip is to decrease your intake of carbohydrates and sugars, to keep lowering the insulin in your blood. Moreover, try not to eat between meals and, try to shift your last daily meal before 9 pm. If you can stretch the period between meals to five hours, it will be great; this is because insulin will stop the burning of fat and protein, while continuing to burning only sugars. If your blood contains high insulin, your body will not convert fats and proteins, and you will not lose any weight.

3. Always rely on water as your best friend; you need to drink at least eight glasses of water per day, since water will wash your body and help to remove fats from it.

4. So, you're now asking about the kind of food you should eat, and the kind that is not allowed. I designed a simplified table of allowed and restricted food:

Restricted Food Allowed Food
Bread, pasta, rice, pastry, sugar, potato, onion, parsnip, sweet potato, pumpkin, beetroot, carrots, peas, spreads like butter and margarine.
Be careful of sauces and condiments.
No breakfast cereal. Proteins: Lean meat, poultry, fish, cheese, yoghurt and eggs.
Vegetables: Cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, capsicum, mushroom, celery, zucchini and a small amount of tomato.
Curry powder in cooking.
Fruit and milk should be taken sparingly (fattening). Very small amount of Fruits.
All processed food including diet soda (Stimulates Insulin).
Foods like the plague of more than 5 grams carbohydrate per 100 grams. Unlimited amounts of lettuce and cucumber (only at meal times).
Black tea or coffee (3 cups a day) with meals.

As you will notice in the table, the problem in how to lose thirty pounds in forty-two days is that you have to replace carbohydrates with proteins and green leafy vegetables. Moreover, you should not mix proteins. You should take only one per meal; you can use balsamic vinegar as a dressing; a tablespoon per day of olive oil is allowed during cooking and as a dressing. You can eat mustard, but only that which is made from powder. The manufactured mustard is not allowed, as it contains high sugar.

My last tip for you is to avoid heavy exercising, as these exercises will only burn glycogen in your muscles, and they will result in fatigue without fat burn. Try prolonged, gentle exercise, like walking. This will help you burn fat and lose weight, but you don't exercise, if you stick to this diet and just move normally. I guarantee that you can lose as many pounds as you wish. Thanks for allowing me to share my experience with weight loss. Trust me, I tried this system myself, and I’ve never regretted it. Get started; it's never too late.

WELL, I WANT TO KEEP UP WITH MY DANCING AND AEROBICS and maybe some TENNIS too, but will try the rest of this advice and see how it goes.
I think it's mostly pretty solid and healthy advice.

Hey Ash good to see things are going good for you! You seem a lot more positive lately too - do you think the weight loss might have something to do with it? I know I'm always feeling better when the scale is going in the right direction too! Keep it up and have a great weekend.

Working Things Out

Definitely feeling more positive.
Probably because I stopped skipping meals (ok except today whoops).
I feel better when I eat real nutritious food, rather than junk and stuff.
Breakfast can make or break my day. It's THAT important. !!!
I feel invincible with a good breakfast. Gotta love it.

It's allll good.

Working on some other things in my life too like frienships and family relationships so things are lifting me up in that way also.

Thanks for checking in Lisa!
