Well, after months of looking around this website, i FINALLY decided to post a diary. I have read many diary's in this website and they have ALL in some way or another inspired me and motivated me to write my own diary.

ABOUT ME:
My name is Johanna and I'm 20 years old. I have been overweight MY WHOLE LIFE and im fed up. I want to do something to change my life and my weight problem. I currently weigh 250.4 lbs and my highest of all time has been 264(march '07). In 2004 i went down from 232 to 185 and there are no words to explain how GOOD i felt. I had TONS of energy and felt and LOOKED good, BUT, I moved to Virginia away from my family and friends and it was downhill from there. I spent most of the time bored in my house, eating and not exercising at all. I want loose weight to feel good, look good, and MOST IMPORTANTLY to be HEALTHY. My mother was diagnosed with cancer last year and i have seen all the pain and suffering she has gone through and If i can lower the chances of me getting cancer and many other health problems that are out there, then IM GOING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES! There is a long history of health problems in my family: Hypertension(high blood pressure), High Cholestrol, Cancer(grandmother died from it, mother has it, and grandfather had it),Diabetes, etc..

Ok, so I have been eating healthy for about 2 to 3 months(except for some days where i have my "days off"..lol) I'm going to write down what i ate today and yesterday so you guys can get see how im eating. If you have any suggestions PLEASE feel free to tell me, I'm here because i know you guys are all going thru what im going thru so it's always nice to interact with people that have or are going thru your what your going thru.

I have tried eating 6 or 8 times a day but i just CANT KEEP UP WITH IT, I find it much better to eat my 3 big meals and a snack at 7 or 8pm. I didnt calculate the calories because I'm not too good at that. :)

I'll leave you with some pictures of how i look now and and how i looked in 2004.

Hey girl,

you know I was just looking at your recent pic and you're cute as hell. haha! Also, you're proportionate, so you don't look your weight at all. You carry it really well!

You know, I hear you about family health history. All of my grandparents are diabetic. My father is as well and my mom's on the cusp of being diabetic. We've got hypertension, kidney disease, breast cancer, gall bladder disease, blah blah blah frickin' blah. It scares the hell out of me, so I came to the conclusion that I refuse to allow any of that to control me. Congrats to you for realizing all of this while you're young. :)

Just remember, don't go rushing yourself into losing weight. Allow it to happen gradually and make it a lifestyle as opposed to a "strict diet." Girl, you're from Virginia. They have some good food over there, so don't go restricting yourself all too much. haha! It's all about moderations. :) If you're having a difficult time with calories, try looking at or Wishing you the best and believe me, you'll hear back from me! Welcome to the WLF. Use it to your advantage, babygirl.

Thanks for stopping by and for all the nice compliments. :) Your cute too. I have heard a couple of people tell me that im "proportionated" but i think im HUGELY proportionated...lol...The biggest problem i have when going clothes shopping is with my arms and booty. They are TOO big..LOL

By the way, I was planning on trying to loose the weight fast but i think i'll stick to 2lbs a week because the last time i lost weight fast i gained it all back and 30LBS MORE! so i'll take it slow this time to see how it goes. :) Well im going to stop by your diary now. :)

Jenna,

Thanks for stopping by. I see we have something in common, I do get obsessed over the numbers sometimes. Especially when it has to do with my weight..lol. so i try to just weigh myself once a week.

Yea the numbers rule me when I focus on them... I'm down to weighing myself twice a month... otherwise I'm on the scale everytime I pass it:)

Scales are the Devil

I give you ladies credit, because I swear I hate those damn things. Every time I see one, I want to toss it out the window and hope a steam roller runs over it. hahaaa

Why can't they just make a scale that when you jump on it, it says stuff like, "Stay Away from the cookies" or "You need to eat a sandwhich, you skinny bitch" or "Junk in the Trunk never looked so good." Hmmm..... if only. lol

I think im going to start weighing myself only once a month, Jenna. I'm going to make sure that I put away my scale for a month...lol..Lets see how that goes.

Sheryl: You constantly crack me up... we should make one and market it... I bet tons of people would buy it:) I sure would LOL :rotflmao:

It really helps me stay on track to not monitor my little up and down fluctuations... it really removes the frustration and disappointment. I hope it helps you to do it that way :D

My sister and him decided to bring them AND my nephew for 3 WEEKS!!!!!...gosh, WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE!!!...lol...They are like the only pain in the butt. I was looking over your meal plan and you may have a problem there.

Anything by Maruchan is filled with copious amounts of sodium. I tried finding the nutritional value online, but didn't find anything. Instead, I found a couple of their Chicken Ramen/ Shrimp Ramen. The sodium ranges betw/ 1200-1400 grams of salt. "So what's the problem" you might ask. Sodium aka salt will make you retain more water than needed. Also, it can and WILL boost your blood pressure if you keep it up. As for hot dogs, they're high in saturated fat... the stuff we most definitely want to stay away from. (A hot dog here and there is fine, but eating one everyday might be a problem later down the line.) Now believe me, girl.. I know Maruchan and hot dogs are cheap, (You're talking to the girl who used to eat 2 Maruchan Ramen packets and 2 hot dogs in one sitting, because it was cheap and I was attending school at the time.) but you might want to look into soups that are "Low(er) Sodium" and maybe even hot dogs that are "healthier" if you love them and won't let them go. Healthy Choice makes some good hot dogs. If anything, eat more fruits, veggies, whole grains (oatmeal especially.. just add fresh fruit in it, so it isn't bland), lean meats, and lots of water.

Oh oh and another thing (sorry, if I'm being a pain) your calories may be too low, girl. I'm not sure what your height is, but you should be eating in the 2000 so that your body won't go into starvation mode. Try figuring out your daily calories by using the calculator. Alright... I'm going to stop now. hahaaa However, way to stay away from the temptations, Johanna! :) Also, your workout looks great. Way to get 60+ mins of cardio in there. You'll definitely see results if you keep that up and tweak your calories.

Go into almost any college dorm room or apartment and you will find these two things LOL What wonderful diets college students have...its not like the foods in the cafeteria are any better:rotflmao:

Sheryl is certainly right about your sodium levels... there's just too much.

Its great that you made sure that there was food around other than the junk for the little ones... hey, maybe you could persuade the littles ones to eat some of the healthy stuff... it may even calm them down a bit ;)

Girl, you are not being a pain AT ALL!!!...I really appreciate your advice and i will take it into consideration...THANKS!...I can DEFINITELY go withouht hotdogs...lol...I dont love them THAT MUCH!...lol...and I understand where your coming from about the sodium, I have to be extra careful with that because when summer time comes my feet tend to swell up sometimes and now i know that eating hotdogs wont help at all with that problem...lol..AND I HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE so i DEFINITELY dont want something that is going to make that worse...The reason why i decided to post a diary in this website was so you guys can give me advice or comment on my nutrition and workouts, so i really appreciate that you took the time out to give me some advice :) ... And about my calories being too low, I'll make sure to try to eat more vegetables and fruits to see if i bring my calories up a bit. By the way, I'm 5'10.

Jenna, I would love for them to start eating healthy but its not like they actually listen to me...lol...These kids now a days want stuff THEIR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY!..not all of them are like that but most of them are...lol...We have 6 kids here right now and out of 6 only one listens to us and knows how to behave....lmao

About the sodium levels I will make some changes to my nutrition so i can bring that down...I really dont like it when my feet swell up because its REALLY uncomfortable and most of the time i can barely walk with them like that...Thanks for stopping by!

Well damn... aren't we a tall one? hahaaa! Okay... I was plugging in a few of your numbers and this is what I got. If you workout 5 days a week... for instance, just walking like you have been, in order to maintain the same weight right now (@ 250lbs) you're allotted to eat ~2900 calories. However, if you want to lose, your caloric range will be betw/ 2000-2350 calories in a day. Don't go doing any of that low carb dieting stuff, because you'll honestly need that for working out. Also, weight training is very important. Even if you take cans in the pantry (that are heavy and will make you fatigue) and do certain lifts, you will benefit big time. (Also.. taking a bag and placing books in them and doing reps with that also works.) So anyways... here's a few things to work on:

1. Since you have hypertension, try to keep your sodium low.
2. Read labels on everything you eat. Pay attention to sugars, dietary fiber, (the more fiber you eat, the fuller you will feel.. ie: oatmeal with fruits)protein, sodium, calories and serving sizes. Serving sizes are tricky, because you would think a bottle of juice would be whatever calories written on the label. Infact, if you read the serving size, you'll realize the calories are for only HALF of the bottle. Stay away from corn syrup
3. Incorporate weight training into your workout.. start twice a week, then up to 3 if you can fit it in. Weight lifting allows your muscles to burn calories while at rest (sleeping.. etc). It doesn't just stop once you put the weights down.
4. If you do workout (cardio and weights) 5xs a day, you can eat the following calories: 2000-2350 calories. As you begin to lose weight, your calories will decrease to compensate. Hence not wanting to start too low... (1300 cals way too low, girl) It may seem like a lot of food, but the main thing is to not starve yourself.

Okay girl.... I'm wishing you a wonderful weekend. Stay strong and I'll talk to you soon.

-Sheryl

PS I'm not a pro or anything, but I'm trying to be of help, so if anyone reading wants to interject, then by all means... please do.
