It's been awhile.

Just to let you guys know, there I may have a bit of a TMI issue... I'm trying to get back in shape after making a lot of progress 3 years ago. Let's start off with where I was 3 years ago. I am 5' 9", btw. I weighed about 230, was running 5 miles 2-3 times a week, and used my bowflex every once in a while. I started Nashville Auto-Diesel and maintained a full time job, so my workouts went by the wayside and I never really picked them back up. FF to August of this year. I wen't to the Dr to get fitted for my painter's mask, and I ended up weighing 274 and passed the breathing part of the test by a mere 1%. This scares the crap outta me, not only for me but for my family.

I started a mild diet (reduced calories, diet sodas/water). As of 3 weeks ago I was down to 257 and now I am balls-to-the-wall back on my bowflex and running. I am doing the basic "Better Body" workout which is the 20-minute one they advertise, and yesterday I added my running back in. It's 1.8 miles around the block at work, and I did it in 24:07. Not good, but I did have to answer my phone once in the middle of it!

As of right now, there are no plans to alter my workouts much until I am truly back in the swing of things. It's also hard to fit them in with a family and 3 jobs. After the first of the year, I plan to add the 310 upgrade to my bowflex (I'm already maxed on benchpress and legpress) and tweak my workouts for a bit of variety. I also plan on running thru the winter and I want to do that lap in under 15, so i can do 2 during lunch.

If you guys have any suggestions or "tweaks" i can do now feel free to let me know. One thing tho, I am not going to a gym anytime soon as my bowflex has been paid off for a long time, using it is a LOT better than nothing, and $0/month to workout sounds pretty good :D

Other than fast food, I really don't eat unhealthy... I get plenty of fruits & veggies, good on grains, too much on meats, and not enough on dairy. my big problem was cooking so much food at one time, I'd go back for seconds and thirds... This is why I've cut back on calories more than anything... We had an early dinner tonight so we can take the kids out. and my calorie total for the day is just a hair under 1800... Oh, and we eat out 2x a week now instead of 4-5....

ok well id work on that a little bit. try not to eat fast food, unless its one of your "cheat meals" but still avoid eating that as much as possible.you probably should have more dairy and make sure the meat you eat is lean. good luck!

Welcome. I would up the calories to a 2500 minimum. May seem like a lot, but at your size you need more calories to lose weight. If you're also becoming more active, you will need more calories for the "proper" amount of nutrients your body needs.
