Check the ingrediant lost on the label. In the US the ingrediants are supposed to be listed in order of largest content. If the first ingrediant on the list is white flour, enriched flour, bleached flour, etc. it is not whole grain bread. A lot of "wheat" breads on the store shelf have very little whole grain flour in them because people tend to like the smoother texture of non-whole grain breads better than the gritty, lumpy texture of whole grains.
