I am wondering if my goal is a realistic one or if I just will depress myself with not meeting it...

In am 5'2.. and currently 162lbs as of 7/7/2008
Bt 11/01/2008 I want to be in the range of 125-120.

I am a breastfeeding mama 2 weeks pp.

Is my goal realistic? Any tipps?

1 percent of your body weight a week is a realistic goal...

with breastfeeding you want to make sure that you are getting adequate nutrition... for you and your child...

By November y ou'll be closer to your goal than you are today.. but i'd focus more on how you're feeling than a number on the scale... the number on the scale is just a number -no one knows that that number is but you...

I've heard that Weight Watchers put together a diet plan for lactation that is pretty good. I think they recommend only one pound a week. The main thing is to eat really healthy so that your milk production isn't affected. Breastfeeding takes an additional 500 calories a day, so you can't cut back too much.

It is recommended that you just lose 1 pound per week while breastfeeding, although that doesn't mean you can't be careful to avoid the whole "eating for two" excuse. You just have to be careful about cutting calories. I would stick with an overall goal, but be flexible on your time span since your body will be going through some crazy changes.

I've breastfed both of my boys, and with the first one it took me about a year (6 months of breastfeeding) to lose all of my baby weight. With the second... he had a million food allergies & intolerances & I had to avoid a TON of foods (namely dairy, soy, & eggs), so I lost the weight by 2-3 months pp. I personally would take the first b/c I felt a lot better and had more to give my baby physically & emotionally.
