my stomach has cellulite and stretch marks! :(

it sticks out a lot more than it seems it should as i'm only 15 pounds off my goal and i know girls who weigh similar to me and are near flat!

is it a case of more toning needed or more fat loss? also to those who have reached their goal, have you had similar problems during your weight loss?

thanks!

I am no expert, all I can say is from my experience. Some people tend to have a flatter stomach than others, I guess it is due to weight distribution and muscle, I personally have a tummy and I highly doubt I will ever be completely tummy free. Well, I dream of it, I would LOVE to have a completely flat abdomen, but from experience I'd say chances are slim that I will. I have a normal weight now, even in the lower bit of BMI for my height and still I look a bit chubby, not exactly skinny! I will have to weigh less to have the body I dream about and even then I doubt my stomach will ever be completely flat!
About the cellulite, I had some on my upper thighs and with my weight loss it has disappeared completely, I am totally cellulite free, so I think if you are patient enough you may also lose it.
Stretch marks unfortunately do not go away, there is no way to lose them, you just have to see them as a beautiful part of yourself (or a not so beautiful part). They fade and get very light, but your skin has "ripped" there while you were growing/gaining weight and it will never go back to look completely the way it did before the ripping (they are scars, you can make scars very light, but you can't lose them forever).

Toning is fat loss.

You really can't compare yourself to others. You are you and you have to work with what you're given. That said, it could be excess fat, excess skin, fluid retention, and/or a combination.

I'd focus on the basics of fat loss and ride that out until you hit your goal weight.

Also note, posture can play a role on the appearance of your midsection too. Slouching magnifies issues.

Another thing I'll add to this is that for a LOT of women I know, that last 15 lbs *is* that last little bit of tummy. Many many women (not all, but quite a few) hold on to weight in their tummies until the very end. I seem to be one of them. :)

Don't worry about it too much. Wait until you get to your goal and THEN assess where you are. A lot changes with 15 lbs when you're that close to ideal weight.

I think it must also have to do with genetics, how we are predisposed to carry our extra weight. My tummy and waist are always my smallest part, and also the part where I lose weight first. It's frustrating and ironic, as I'd love to lose it off my arse and thighs, but I have to work like a dog to get any of that to budge! *sigh* I owe it all to my pear shaped heritage...

Hello Zarabee, I agree very much with Zaracooks, I seemed to have lost quite a bit of my belly fat just 10 lbs ago. So with another 10 lbs hopefully it will pretty much dissipate. I am pretty confident it will. :)

Some of my stretch marks are completely gone,(in that they are NOT JUST LIGHT, they ARE GONE) so I guess it really depends on how long you've had them for, how deep they are....and as to what kind they are....baby gain, or just weight gain.....

I'm 5'9" tall and well within a healthy weight and BMI range. But I've got a tummy "overhang" that's excess skin. I hate it, but there's nothing I can do to change it... :banghead:
