Hello....new here....anyways i am a 15 year old male...I currently way 193lbs. and even though i dont think i am obese the "statistics" say I am so I am on my quest of getting to 160lbs. I know its not "alot" compared to alot of people on here.....anyways i was curiouse if my diet is anygood...(made it myself)....well i have been eating candy and ice cream and alot of food like a whole pizza to myself and...i could eat more...but didnt want to make another lol! ok here is the "diet"

starting at 9AM ill eat granola, fruit, yogurt and water and basicly the same thing every 2 hours untill 7pm...so basicly its 6 SMALL meals a day instead of 3 HUGE main meals....

and as far as exercise:
everyday i go for a 3 mile bike ride
M/W/F 4X15 pushups...(this will increase as time goes on)
Everyday 4X20 situps ....(this will also increase....)
M/W/F 2 mile run & 3X3 pullups (both of these will also increase)

so what do you think?....any tips? or changes you would make?

(oh yea...where do i go to change my avater and add a thing under what i post <you know what i am talking about?)

My Two Cents

the_bay_mafia, Sounds like your doing great. Hate to tell you, you need to up the calories. Very simple if you try to keep your calories that low, your going to go off the deep end & start eating everything. So you can once in a while have the lower calories but not to often. Unless your really short I'd keep at a min. of 1,200 calories. Try to keep it up to 1,500 - 2,000 calories a day. Guess what your going to hear a lot on this site; your going to go into starvation mode. I don't really see that being a real problem, just an excuse if your not losing weight.

granola, fruit, yougurt and water..... that is great for breakfast but eating the same thing 5-6 times a day......i think you should add other foods like chicken; fish, turkey (sources of lean protein), egg white and a balanced diet should also include lots of veggies and of course you have nailed down the water part. You are right about having 5-6 small meals through out the day but eating the same thing over and over will bore you and would lead you to eating the foods you dont have to. Healthy eating along with excercise will soon get you to your goal.

You can also go to and get tips on diets and excercises. And the best of all it is FREE

I'm a firm believer that our bodies react in ways we can't comprehend when it's put under a major change. A drastic drop in calories like you want to do CAN cause it to respond in ways that may hinder weight loss like lean muscle loss and slower BMR when compared to other methods. I saw lower your calorie intake slowly and up the exercise.

wow thanks for the response guys....idk but everyday i have been on "my diet" i have loss 3lbs.! i think i will stick to it....i feel alot better eating less..instead of cramming it in...thanks and i wish you all good luck!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Personally I think if you want to increase anything on your exercises, you need to be increasing your time on the bike. If the goal is weight loss, you don't need to limit your bike riding yet do 60 or more pushups a day. Stay on that bike for MUCH longer. Biking is low impact, you can do it 6 days a week. Shoot for staying on the bike for 45 minutes or more and go as hard as you can go and still keep up a fairly high intensity for that entire time. 3 miles on a bike is just not much unless you're going balls out, yet in comparison, running 2 miles can be fairly tough. Shoot for more like 10-15 miles on the bike. Also you may want to consider jumping rope. When done correctly, 15 minutes worth of jumping rope is supposed to be on the same level as running for 30 minutes... it's pretty intense, but being high impact, you're not supposed to do it for extended periods of time every day. Just something else to consider. Just keep mixing things up and you'll be ok. Just don't burn yourself out. Don't exercise so much and have so weird of a diet that you just kind of fade out and quit doing these things after a month or two.
