Is this bad for me?

If I don't eat breakfast, I'm not hungry until way later in the day... like 4 PM or later.

So it's Spring Break, and I just haven't felt like eating until way later in the day. I've been drinking water a lot and playing DDR and taking the occasional walk.

And I figured that this will allow me to lose weight, so I'm thinking about only eating one meal a day EVERY DAY, not just on Spring Break... this means skipping breakfast and lunch... and eating dinner. My parents usually cook something that I end up going for seconds for... or bring home fast food because sometimes they're too tired to cook after work... so I should be getting in a decent amount of calories if I eat JUST dinner...

And perhaps a couple of snacks... like peanuts, fruit, or a little bread...? throughout the day.

I was here for awhile, and then I gave up, and I don't know if I'm here for good or not, but blegh.

I can't imagine anyone here thinking it would be a good idea to skip breakfast and lunch.

I know when I was at my highest weight I would never eat breakfast and rarely ate lunch - and I kept gaining and gaining and gaining.

I've found the only way I can stay sane - as well as on track calories wise - is to never go hungry. I eat every couple of hours.

Egh.
But I can't eat a bunch of small meals throughout the day due to school... and lack of things to eat.

I feel a lot better not eating until later in the day, drinking lots of water, and playing DDR for at least an hour. >_>;;

Well, you did ask if this was bad for you...
...it's just my opinion, but yes, I think it is.

Granted, it truly doesn't matter in terms of actual weight loss when you have your calories - it's total caloric intake consumed that counts - but honestly, I know I could not get in my daily requirement not only of calories but of nutrition as well in one sitting.

How would you know you're actually getting enough calories? Seriously, you have to eat in order to lose weight.

Again, it's only my opinion, and you did ask ;)

You don't necessarily have to eat every two hours like some people do but if you don't eat breakfast and lunch while trying to lose wieght, you're going to screw your metabolism and you'll eventually end up needing to lose a lot more than you do now. Also, your meals don't have to be heavy. A cup of cereal for breakfast and sandwhich for lunch would do just fine.

I agree with the above posters....skipping meals is just not good for you.

And let's face it, the food industry has made it really really easy for people on the go to skarf down some form of food throughout the day. Special K has cereal bars etc....

Skipping meals isn't really a good idea. If you are really not that hungry, eat something small, a handful of nuts, a granola bar, a bowl of cereal, a fruit, something.

If your body goes into famine mode (a state where yoru body is not sure when its going to get its next meal, so its slows down the metabolism) when you do actually eat, your body will not be as welling to give up those extra calories, and would rather hold them, because your body doesn't know when your next meal is gonna be. Worse yet, you might even lose more muscle mass then fat.

btw, i'm new here, my first post here. glad to be here
