Honestly, thats all you eat? either your the size of tinker bell or you are severely under eating.

Unhealthy is all i can describe that "Diet"

I agree....it seems counterintuitive, but you do have to eat more to lose weight. It's simple math really.....you can find out how many calories per day that your body requires to maintain itself (several online calculators available), and you reduce that amount by 500 calories per day. You then take that number, and divide it by 6 to find out how much you should be eating at each sitting (spread out over 6 meals per day). I still struggle trying to keep up with as much as I need to eat.....but if you don't, your body can put itself into starvation mode and it will store the calories you do manage to eat as fat, because it thinks it won't be fed again in a while (or worse, it can begin to cannibalize muscle tissue for use as energy)

thing is its impossible to slit it into six meals a day and im a really fussy eater. Since college dusnt exactly pay much im going to make my own protein bars to put into my diet aswell. any other quick snack ideas i could maybes take to college????

Matt's right. Snacks are all well and good, but most of your nutrition will come from the 4-6 meals you need to eat per day. Do a bit of research here on the forums, there's plenty of cheap and easy stuff to make. I eat a lot of tuna sandwiches as well as ham and cheese sandwiches. For breakfast, find a good high-fiber cereal. I eat this stuff called Kashi Cinnamon Harvest, and although I look like a hippy buying it, it tastes decently good and has great nutritional content. As much as I love it, Cap'n Crunch just doesn't make the cut. As for dinner, agan, you need more meats and breads, and some veggies in there as well.

And how is it that you have no lunch in there?!? I'd be gnawing my own arm off by then. You need to look into getting some good lean meat, fruits, and breads. Heck, look at the food pyramid - it's not perfect for exercise dieting, but it's a heck of a good guide to go off.

As for snacks, beef jerky, while a bit expensive, is a really good snack, since most of it has almost no fat, only a little bit of calories, and tons of protien. Protein bars are great if you use them correctly. Yogurt, fruit, chips and salsa (the lowfat kinds) are all great snacks, and pretzels are a great filler food because they have virtually nothing in them.

Just my experiances with dieting... that's what I eat and it's working out for me.

id gladly eat 5-6 meals a day but while being at college its just about impossible with 3 hour lectures and all tht stuff. Plus i work at sea 6 months of the year and tht really throws me off as they cook based on the majority of the crew meaning im constantly eating no good foods. wht about meal replacement bars or r they just glorified protein or snack bars.

Even so, you should try your best to eat as many small meals a day. The idea there is, if I'm not mistaken, that your metabolism will constantly be active, thus burning more calories.

As for meal replacement bars, they're not as good as the real thing. If you absolutley must eat one because nothing else is available, well eat it, it's better than nothing. However, common sense tells me that you should strive for a normal meal. Protein bars and snack bars can be good, but it really depends on when you're eating them and if you actually need them.

You work six months at sea? Do you work on like a cruise ship or something less luxurious? =P

less luxurious lol i work for maersk which is container ships.....still im based in bermuda so most of my work is in hot countries but whenu work and live with only 13 people for 3 or 4 months at a time it gets irritating

Also, all that fruit is really high in sugar. You should really be trying to eat sugars just after you work out... I went to college in the middle of nowhere (litterally in a cornfield) and I took classes from 7am to 5pm and 6pm until 11pm everyday the whole time I was there (3 years). I really recommend preplanning your foods. I made myself trail mixes in ziploc bags, cooked huge batches of chicken breasts and froze them, and invested in a good insulated lunch sack. When you are home buy in bulk so you can bring it with you either at sea or at school. This is cheaper. Try cutting veges in advance and making your own snack size bags full, so you can just grab them and go. If you eat eggs, a quick solution in the morning is to beat one in a plastic container and microwave it for 45 seconds. Egg beaters or just egg whites are even better. If you try you can bring nutritious snacks that you can eat between classes or on your water break. If you're like me and you take a lot of active (dance) classes, I'd also suggest investing in a really good water bottle. You'll feel better and get a lot more done if you're eating enough to nourish your body even if you are losing weight. Also consider alternating your intake of calories every two weeks by a few hundred calories so your metabolism doesn't stagnate.
