Is it just me? (Sleep Issues)

I've noticed a increase in the frequency with which I wake up each evening. My lower back would be knotted and cramped and this would naturally force me to sit up to loosen it. I didn't think much of it until my girlfriend said something about it. At first, I reasoned that it could be the bed, but I had slept on this bed pain free before about 6 months ago. Something is making me believe that this could be related to my weight. Then again, my incredibly thin grandmother has had back problems for as long as I can remember.

Has anyone else experienced problems like this?

What is your current weight/height/age?

Just because a bed was good 6 months ago, doesn't mean it's good now.. How old is the bed? beds tend to be good for 10- 15 years -though the heavier you are, I beleive that time goes down)

Has anything changed in your routine since you started having these problems?

Back problems are normal for people who carry around too much excess weight, but without knowing more details, it would be hard really cite a reason for your condition.

Are you exercising at all? One of the many unsung benefits of exercise is that it helps you to sleep more soundly. Even if you don't sleep for longer periods of time, the sleep that you get is better quality sleep.

since this does not necessarily sound weight related I would maybe go and have it checked out if it stays.
Do you exercise at all, it might make it better. Or how about stretches?
However, if it does not get better, get it checked out.

I am 23/5'10"/285lbs. The bed is about 1-2 years old.

Nothing life changing has happened, and it comes and goes. Sometimes I sleep like a log while other times I wake up with back stiffness in my back and neck (which usually leads to bad tension headaches).

Exercise isn't really to intense yet as I am working my way into my new life plan.
