Ipod Nano or Shuffle?

Currently I'm using my mp3 player but since we bought a new mac and started used itunes for music...I want to get an Ipod Nano or Shuffle but I'm undecided about which to go with.

Do you have one or the other?

What do you like/dislike about it?

Which would you buy?

thanks. my birthdays coming up (the 23rd) so I'm thinking this would be a perfect gift idea! :D

Creatine Zen, 8gb.

Steve Jobs is a fascist scumbag, and I sincerely hope he dies in a Dutch man's oven. Also ipods are a ripoff.

the downside to the shuffles is that you can't see what song is being played... and 1 -2 gig isnt all that much music (i don't have the patience to continually reload my music..)

Samsung, Sony and a few others have MP3 players in the smaller product thatyou could use for athletics and it's really just a matter of dragging the songs/books/podcasts over to the player (when you plug it into the computer it becomes another drive letter and dragging is super easy)

What i don't like about Itunes, is the MP4 format.. yes you can convert but it's a pain..

I like my IPod 30 gig video player that I've played one video on -it's all music - it just doesnt hold enough music for me...

I just started using the shuffle. I like it a lot. Since I only use it for working out I just have my workout songs loaded on it. I have another ipod for everything else.

Seriously, it's called an armband. You can get it on ebay for $5, with a car charger, a belt clip, a necklace, a screen protector and a donkey thrown in. Stop giving Hitler's reincarnation money.

I'm with focus. Ipods are a rip. Creative makes a great player. I actually have an RCA that I keep in my gym bag for WO that works just fine and it was only 40$. If you have decided to frink the Apple Kool-Aid though and like to exercise I would opt for the Nano because it is compatible with Nike+ (if you are going to sell your soul to Steve Jobs you may as well contribute to Nike's Maylasian sweat shops whilst you are at it.

I love my zune. I'm sure these guys got something against microsoft too, but I like it so I couldn't care less. :D

Great video quality, easy to use, avoid itunes.... check em out.

No, Microsoft is just fine. Bill wasn't the one who decided to be a little bitch because a goat bit off his penis when he was a child. Mr. Gates spreads his favors around. It's not his fault the others can't compete because their sauce is weak.

I have the nano (not sure what size but huge cause I have yet to max it out) and I love it because I can download my desperate housewives and ugly betty and watch while working out. I also have loads of audiobooks so the capacity is good. I've never had another kind of mp3 player, always an iPod. I got the nano for my birthday before that I had the shuffle and it was okay but I really really prefer the nano.

If you do a basic google comparison of the features of the Creative Zen vs. The ipod ANYTHING, you will notice that the Zen is at least one hundred times better for one third the price. Imo, buying an ipod in today's market is like wiping your ass with benjamins to say "fuck you" to sensible people everywhere.

You can skip the politics of the decision because there isn't a corporation that doesn't say "Fuck You!" to the general public. If you want to cast your fiscal vote then more power to you, but the original question is about which ipod will work better for Funshine.

I like the itunes because it's easy for a moron like me to use. No muss no fuss. If you are the kind of person that needs to customize it to the way you use it, then maybe you should look elsewhere. I wouldn't know.

If you are thinking about going with just one, then I think the nano would be better. It's a bit bigger, but not by much and having a display makes it so much easier to use.

I have an iPod...two, actually. I've never actually bought one, both were given to me (used) as gifts by men in my life who were supposed to care about me. One is an old iPod mini that will hold a charge of only one hour. I only keep it as a backup for my good iPod.

The one I use now is one of those video iPods that has a ridiculously large capacity (80GB). I have dropped it several times and it just keeps on going. It holds my entire collection of mp3s (in the many thousands) and has room to spare.

I wouldn't bother with a shuffle because there's not a screen. I need a screen. Some people may not, but I think they're nuts. :sifone:

Basically my current iPod has an insane capacity for music and video, the battery life is very good, and it's pretty tough for something its size that has an actual drive in it. You can even feel it spin if you turn the iPod on while holding it. I love the little spinny wheel on the front because I can use it blind without having to look at it. It comes in handy behind the wheel and at the gym. Then again, if I want to look it it has that pretty little screen with the album cover and everything. :hurray:

Basically Apple's design is superior to everything on the market IMHO and the integrity of their devices is very good. They're not cheap, but they're very solid and dependable products. I've never had any trouble with my current iPod. I plug it in here at work and run it off electricity all day long; the thing rarely runs on its own battery power. However, after taking it to the gym with me and listening to it for an hour the bar on the battery life icon barely budged.

Also, you do NOT have to use iTunes if you have an iPod. There are plenty of third-party applications out there that do a much better job than iTunes and don't attempt to auto-sync the device every time you plug it in. You can have it do it if you want, but if you don't want to auto-sync (I never do) then you don't have to. I have two computers and neither one of them has iTunes installed on it. I use MediaMonkey instead. It's a far far superior product.

You think that you're too cool for school, but let me give you a newsflash, Walter Kronkite...you aren't.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have an after-funeral party to attend.

:D

Oh, I wanna toss something else in on this subject. I used to work in an electronics retail store. We got about 10 ipods per week brought back as defective. Of course we probably sold 10:1 because people always want one. Still, didn't leave a good rep in my head. That's why I went with the Zune.

My Zune malfunctioned terminally and I still have no idea how to fix it. I'm THIS close to buying an iPod to replace it.

I have both a creative zen stone plus and an ipod nano. The nano I got for free because it was included with a TV purchase. I haven't used my zen since. I found the zen good but the problem was that the response when pushing a button was sooooo slow especially going through the menu. The only thing that I like about it is that it is drag and drop and the FM radio but the transfer rate is also slow.

I just love my ipod nano, itunes is easy to use once you get the hang of it and the menus are crazy fast as well as the transfer rate. In my opinion the ipod nano is superior to all other mp3 players I have had (this will be my 4th). I used to hate ipods and all things apple but once I tried one I was hooked.
