Injury without pain.

Is it possible to be working out and pull a muscle without knowing? I often do some exercises and feel a strange kind of tight sensations in some of my muscles, it wont hurt at all but the next day there is the clear sign of pulling a muscle like spasms or jolts of pain from the muscle. Is the not feeling the pain possible because the muscles are so pumped up with blood?
 
If you were to pull a muscle you are litarally tearing the muscle in half or from your musculotendonous junction and it would hurt. bad. You are probably either straining too much or working that body part too often it sounds like your started something caled the cumulative injury cycle. you might need to take a break and make sure you stretch before you workout. and yes the "pump" you are referring to is when blood filld your muscles and they feel tighter than usual. it should not hurt though.
