A few weeks ago i decided to start training with a view to competing in sprint events. I used to compete when i was younger but stopped when i was 16years old. I realised that it would take a good winters training to get to any standard although as soon as i started, i ran into problems. The first session i ran 6 x100m flat out which i managed no problem. However the following few days i could barely walk due to the stiffness in my thighs. The next training session, as soon as i started to run i felt a sharp pain in my quad. The physio advised i had slightly torn my quad muscle and i was to lay off sprinting and do some light jogging instead until it healed. I followed this advice and 6 weeks later, i tried to return to training. All was going well until the last rep of 50m when i felt a sharp pain in my groin area. That was a few days ago, it doesnt seem to be too bad now but im worried incase every time i try to sprint, ill injury somthing else! For warm up im doing some light jogging and then static stretches. Can anyone offer any advice as to where im going wrong? im wondering if im too old or if im just out of shape? Im a 25year old female.
